[GUIDE][8/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Re: [GUIDE][7/6] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Found a mod that doesn't work.... nexus keys... i didn't have any soft keys lol. good ol' manual reboot into recovery

if its the same nexus keys i am thinking of, i flashed it to 3.1 without any issues

Re: [GUIDE][7/6] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Morning ladies and gents:

I will flash one of two roms today. Either Th3ory's latest (b/c I can't stay mad at him) or Bugless Beast.

That is all. :)

(I still plan on fixing mine, but alas, I want to see what a real dev can do!)

Theories will have features ....

Yup. After being on stock for what...a week or so now...it's time for some ish.

He has seemingly ran into the problems everyone else has with GAPPs...with Talk, Camera, etc. force closing. But with Bugless Beast apparently figuring it out (and a few of others), there's hope :).

Re: [GUIDE][7/6] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

so, does anyone feel that JB3.1 is less "buttery" than the late-stage ports? for example, when swiping through the app drawer, i was getting some noticeable lag.

i did a fresh, clean install (wiped everything including system), then installed bootload, rom, gapps.

i flashed the stock kernel from Vicious, that seems to have helped, but its still a bit... raw.

otherwise, so far so good.... only issue i've found was related to backup: a) apps dont restore, and b) i cant select a backup account. when i go into Backup in settings, i can check the backup box, but when i click to choose the gmail account to back up to, it doesnt let me select my account, and just says "no backup account selected" (or whatever the full text is)

interesting.... I had to re wipe and reinstall everything but them and it works fine now.

Well AOSP is very raw, and for some reason, this (4.1.1) is really, really raw (for lack of a better term). I think these kinks will be worked out over time, hopefully.

i didnt find the later ports to be all that smooth, personally. 2.4 and 2.5 are all bogged down on my phone for some reason.

the earlier ones were smoother, and the first axiom engage that worked was smoother, imo.

i will be flashing something when i get out of work. guess i'll see if anything else becomes available by this evening. not feeling jelly belly or bugless, theory's latest is an option tho.

Re: [GUIDE][7/6] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

so should we flash the new JB bootloader first in recovery since its a zip file or some where else.
thank flash the 3.1 rom (sticking with jake fr now) and newest gapps after also in recovery.

when/where is the full wipe system reset done before boot loader after boot loader or before rom and gapps?

has anyone flashed the addons like vzw apps? or the transparant bar?

EDIT: maybe I'll hold off with reading some of the newer post until the "smoke" clears and the rom has had a chance to be "tweaked" for known bug issues. I need my GNx to work without issues this weekend.. a few more days wont hurt.

i guess saying latest ports was a mistake. i was running 1.9, which was pretty good IMO

what dont you like about JB or BB?

put bootloader on your sd card and check md5 to make sure it's not corrupted -
boot into recovery - wipe cache and dalvik - flash bootloader
(optional - reboot - wait a min - boot back into cwm)
wipe data, clear cache, clear dalvik, format system - flash rom, flash gapps, reboot, wait two-three min for kernel to set in.

as for jel bel and bb - i just prefer more options than bone stock roms. ideally, i want aokp to come with a jb build but for now i'll probably opt for dt's jb offering.

Still on 2.6 hybrid jelly, planning on staying put until Gummy, AOKP, or CM puts a stable build out.

Re: [GUIDE][7/6] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

what best app to check this?

there's an app called hashdroid that compares them for you - or you can use a file manager (such as astro - nav to file, long press and select details).

the op of the thread you dl the filefrom should have the md5 listed with it to check against.

Re: [GUIDE][7/6] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

So I started out on JB 2.6 running stock kernel and everything worked great, but alas, I couldn't resist the urge to flash one of the AOSP Jelly Bean ROMs. I was going to pull the trigger on JB 3.0 but kept reading about the various issue and was waiting for 3.1 to drop....then Bugless Beast dropped before it and I couldn't resist!

So, been on BB since it dropped last night and flashed Franco's kernel (217 - 512 gpu) this morning and so far so good! The ONLY issue I've had is that Youtube FCs if I try to adjust the volume, but I'm not too concerned with that. I did do a dirty flash from JB 2.6 to BB (only wiped cache, dalvik, system), so I'll try a clean flash later to see if that helps.

Overall though, I'm amazed how fast this stuff is coming out! These Devs are amazing!

you mean where?

droid hive

DroidTh3ory's homebase is droidhive.com.

His hasn't been released yet; per his twitter, he was dealing with the GAPPs issues that's been plaguing everyone until late last night.
