[GUIDE][8/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

I might wait until 3.4 drops a little later and flash that. Dunno yet. Just did a nandroid and backed up all of my SD card stuff, so I'm good to go.

I believe if I have been reading correctly if you are on a 3.x you can dirty flash with gapps and not worry too much about the back up. I did a back up before I jumped from 2.x to 3.2 to be safe.

But as its always said an ounce of protection goes a long way.

jelly belly 3.4 is about to drop in irc, btw.

i guess it wont be long for the rw thread to get the links as well.

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

What's in 3.4? I see there's new gapps but nothing in RW beyond that

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

I'm on a roll. Two Rom updates in one day for me! This is getting addicting. Probably should stop though as my Kernel never has a chance to settle this way.

Okay, I hate to be "that guy" but what do I check the md5sum against? I downloaded 3.4 and want to make sure nothing goes awry. I had a little soft brick moment this morning and had to start from scratch. Don't want to do that again so I need to get this straight... Responses will be appreciated. Sarcasm will be accepted as I should already know this...

check the md5 of the file you downloaded against the md5 provided (generally) in the op of the thread for that file. should be listed near it or below or something, but if the file is brand new the md5 might not be posted yet.

I use an app called ES file explorer. You go to where you have the download on the SD card with that app. Press and hold the file, scroll down to properties and then check the MD5 there against what they have in the OP.

Thanks a ton. I have been running with scissors lately by not taking this step.

roms and kernels you'll survive without checking them (99% of the time i'm too lazy to check these). radios, bootloaders, and factory images should be checked tho.

Phew.... 3.4 is installed... I used kajars gapps so auto restore works flawlessly... Just finished restoring everything. Feels a bit clunky with Linaro kernel, may have to go back to stock yet again as that was nice and smooth

Except that camera and gallery are gone.... Sheesh.... That's a project for tomorrow. Good night kids

3.4 might be the smoothest installing and running ROM I've ever put on any of my Android phones.

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

I'll say it now...jelly bean in its current state is not for me. I tried jelly belly, vanir, rootzboat and modaco and aside from a ridiculously long boot every single one is just too stock for me. I don't like the ics blue and gradient backgrounds along with no toggles. I have to hide my clock and battery in the status. When you have a huge time weather widget like beautiful widgets, I hate to see the clock twice. I have a nice battery widget so I hate the battery in the status. Lots of small things that a modded very mature ics build like aokp has, at this stage jelly bean simply does not have.

Alla above is just me. I did notice the speed improvement, but for me just does not outweigh the eye candy that ics has. I'm sure jelly will far surpass what ics is but at the present time its not for me. I WILL get back on jelly but it needs a little more development time for my taste.

So back on aokp ics. It's not like I am suffering, ics is still a very workable platform. As they say in Hawaii... she go still yet! :)

i would punch a kitten in the face for rom control and pull down power controls on a jb build :)

jk i swear !

Well, with 3.4's release, Jake stated on IRC that he won't be making daily updates as most issues have been resolved. Any issues that do arise, he stayed to contact him directly through their thread.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean.... Whud UP!

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Wow 3.4 already. Ok this is my last flash. Everything is pretty much stable with 3.3

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

lol... I'm waaaaay back here on 1.8 JB... and waiting for the dust to settle... I think this might be the weekend to update to 3.4....

Re: [GUIDE][7/12] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Just flashed 3.4 and it's sweet! This is the first JB rom I've flashed, and so far I dig the slickness.
