[GUIDE][8/1] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

I flashed the bootloader before everything. Here was my order...wipes...bootloader...rom...gapps...trinity.

Bootloader = http://www.androidcentral.com/what-is-android-bootloader

Right now, devs are saying it's a bit more stable than the ICS one for JB roms. The long booting issue has seemingly gone away. True? Placebo? Who knows. Works for me. I keep a spare ICS/IMM76K one in there just in case.

Yeah... I'm still scared to mess with the bootloader until an official one is released. I'm getting 2 min start up times so in fine at the moment.

so I got some of the newer files, the JB bootloader, 2.4, already using 7/4 gapps, sticking with stock kernel for now.

with wipes can we still skip the factory wipe?

where do I get a ics/imm76k to keep on the phone.

Thanks!
Xanth

I was really hoping to avoid crack flashing at home this weekend so I wouldn't have to explain to my wife why I'm doing it for a twentieth time but I'm downloading 2.4 trinity and boot loader now....

Does anyone have a mirror for the new bootloader? I cannot download it anywhere.

Did you check on his rootzwiki where he says you can download both rooms and gaaps? That's where I got out this morning. It's right below his change log...

Got it.

Re: [GUIDE][7/6] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

Don't get me wrong, I do not recommend users to flash the JB bootloader unless they (1) know what they're doing and how they can get out of it, and (2) have a flashable (or even fastboot-able) version of the IMM76K version.

This is experimental. Is it more experimental than that first 4.0.4 leak months ago (not IMM76K)? I "upgraded" to that bootloader as well, in addition to radios. Honestly, it probably is, but it appears to be all well and good and if maguro/toro uses the same thing, then we're all safe and saucy--in theory.

However, if you have any urge to go back to ICS (I do not), don't do it or have the ICS one available to flash. It has not been tested with ICS and it could open up a black hole or cause you to boot loop or something.

That's for sure. Experimental bootloaders are not toys :)

Definitely don't try to flash back to ics after flashing the Jb bootloader. Had a friend do this to me yesterday I got him out of it but it was a challenge.

What happened? I presume he just bootlooped into oblivion and you'd need to either flash the ICS bootloader or try to fastboot stuff over?

Also, if you check out other port threads, they want to keep taking stuff from Jelly Belly lol.

Ya he bootlooped ended up going back to stock rerooting and the restored one of his backups he learned his lesson and I got a dinner out of it. :-)

Android moves fast. I went out last night for 3 hers and jellybelly got updated 3 times.

Re: [GUIDE][7/6] Jelly Bean Now! Resources & Discussion

So I'm on Jelly Belly 2.2; do the updates past that require the JB boot loader to be flashed? I don't want to mess around with that, so should I just stay on 2.2?
