CM7 is a totally different Rom, cyanogen is built off of stock aosp Android 2.3.4. It's also been available since before the update.

I apologize for the confusion. I'm new to the community and to rooting. This post probably isn't relevant. I was just trying to find out if I needed to do the OTA Gingerbread update and keep my CM7. It sounds like you're saying the this topic's how-to guide is completely separate from CM7 and thus irrelevant. I appreciate your response and I will research further.

Yep totally different, if you plan on staying with cm7, then nevermind the Rom but you will want to flash the new radios.

2 problems

problem 1: after installing the update and radios, i cant boot in recovery, either through rom manager or holding down power and vol down. any suggestions?
problem 2: i followed the directions and my phone also took seconds to install the new radios, however, when i went to settings/about phone/software info/ my numbers did not change. any suggestions?

Reflash Amon_Ra 2.3 by using rom manager, and if you cant with rom manager then ill upload a PC36IMG in it that you can run through the boot loader. Once you have RA again, retry the steps. Im pretty sure something wrong happened to your recovery is all that happened

i tried and it still didnt work. when i would click on reboot into recovery nothing would happen. and i double checked if it had root permission and it does.

so i download the PC36IMG.zip file, place it on my sd card, then what? how do i get my phone to read it and do whatever it has to do with it?

Place it on the root of your SD, power off your phone, hold vol down+power and it will automatically scan for it.

so i placed it on my SD card and held the vol down&power button, but it booted normally.

You don't "need" to do anything. I would though.

i didnt change the name. it downloaded with the name PC36IMG.zip.

Gingerbread update worked flawlessly but my radio won't update like others have mentioned. My PRI version won't budge from 1.90_003. Ideas?

I've tried 10x. Went into ROM Manager to ensure permissions were updated in case that had any impact, it didn't. Upon selecting to update the combo zip, a few lines of script flash and then nothing happens.

When you say you had to try a few times, did you "Try,reboot,try,reboot" or did you "Try,try,try,try [stuck], reboot"?

igotsanevo4g, i just want to let you know that i finally got it to work. all i did was uninstall ROM manager and then re-installed it and it worked. thanks.
