[GUIDE] How To Root/Unroot The Thunderbolt with Revolutionary

trter10..you are awesome. The issue I have is because I am an idoit and I can even download the zip file. When I do, I can't find the edit when I right mouse click and the md5 file is always white not a zip file. oh well. I am sure everyone else benefits from your wisdom.

Huh? I'm a little confused

I am sorry...it is because I can't figure it out. I am trying to attach the md5 file as it looks on my computer when I right mouse click but I get a 404 error when I try to hit the paperclip.

So I watched your video that you posted a couple of days ago and I download the 2 files you said..one is a ZIP and the other is a zip.md5. When I try to righmouse click on either of them..there is no EDIT option like your video...I see an Open followed by a 7-Zip and the rest of the options below are not Edit either. So I can never get to that stage where I cut the selected text and then put it in the other file you say to open that checks your md5.

Anyway, I was rooted for about a year until I got my refubished TB since my digitizer failed. I guess I wil have to be unrooted. But you are obviously hooking up more knoledgable people, and I am not baggging on you at all...IT IS ME..I am positive.

Oh, just double click on the .md5 file, and select open with notepad

(Honestly, its OK to skip the MD5 step usually.)

I rooted my wife's TBolt using rev, and she attempted to do an OTA last night. The OTA downloaded, but won't install (due to s-off). My issue is that the phone is in a reboot cycle where it boots to the home screen, but then reboots to install the update. Upon rebooting, it stalls at Rev CWM.

I tried telling CWM to run update.zip, but it won't (I thought that this was a feature of the rev rooting method).
I tried running the auto-unrooter mentioned in the thread, but it doesn't go fast enough before the phone reboots.

I'd love some advice on how to proceed. Thanks, in advance.

Thank you trter10...I am rooted thanks to you! I did as you said to bypass my EDIT step and double clicked and opened in notepad to achieve the same result. Well written guide even an idiot like me can get through it...of course with a little help from you beyond the video and the forum.

Wow I think you have pre-release software :P

You can update but it will wipe your data, is that OK?

Yesss that would answer so many questions and I thought that may have been the culprit as well. The Verizon lady said it said test device on her screen when activating. And it wouldn't let me do any software updates cuz it said no new ones and I was running on Android 2.1.1 so I knew something was to.haha

Yes I definitely would update and I don't have much on here I can't retrieve after on my backup or Facebook haha :)

I bought this and still have 30 days to take it back. Would it be easier just to tell them they gave me a pre-software and send me a new one or just update it myself? It would also mean about a week without a phone too if I did send it back.

Nah updating it should only take about 20 minutes max.

If you think it'd be easier, feel free to add me on google talk lukeafrazier@gmail.com

I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue. After I rooted my phone, I noticed that my live wallpapers didn't work. Is anyone else having this issue, and has anyone figured out why that is?
