I'm doing all the steps but when i download the link from my phone for the beta it says that my phone is set to block installation of applications not from the market and then when I type in the "adb install swype-installer.apk" it says it cannot find it to install. Am I doing something wrong? It listed my htc device so I know the sync downloaded properly. Please help!!

If some of you are having trouble with the Swype update issue, I found out something that may help. When you go back and get the updated Swype installer from your beta link in the email, chances are it might download with the name "Swype-Installer-2.apk" or something similar (you can see the name of the download when you pull the notification shade down). Then, once you've uninstalled the old swype program and installer, follow the steps in the first post using the new filename. Also, you may want to clear the old .apk's out of the AC-SWM folder before you start pulling packages just to make sure you aren't accidentally calling up the old files.

Hopefully we won't have to keep doing this every time Swype releases a new incremental, but I fear that very well may be the case.

I give up. I cant get past the first command. "cd C:\AC-SWM" with out it saying the filename directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect. I dont know what that means.

So it was working entirely fine for a whole day but then all of a sudden when swipe is on it wouldnt form words. So I tried turning it on and off and now it will not come back on at all. Seeking any help

I had same problem as david, did some research found it I needed to be in MOBILE VIEW, now all is good.

Funny, there were a few with same problem and I had to run this guide again to load the update recently released.
Mobile view didn't make the job but what I did is go to swype.com and click through the beta process, then later I logged in with my user and password and once on the dash I just simply clicked download and that made the job.

I wanted to thanks at least 4 times to the OP but there's no thanks button on the 1st post, se here it goes the BIG THANKS for this guide. I use this on ubuntu and it worked flawless

can someone please help me? i got all the way to step 11 and now im stuck. i finally got the swype installer to show up on my computer and im able to run it, but when i type in the stuff in #11 this is what i get:

EDIT: Nevermind, got it sorted. Needed to remove the mypackage.apk from the AC_SWM folder and go through the process again. Working just fine now!

Just swapped my Inspire as it was having some reception issues. Now I can't get Swype loaded back. I got an error that this version of Swype was for another device and to contact Swype. Also cannot get step 11 to work. Telling me "does not exist". I can get the keyboard up and if I type normally without dragging it inserts the text, but if I try to swype with my finger it doesn't input anything. Had this happen on the other inspre but a restart fixed it, no such luck this time. Any thoughts?

Was having a similar issue (see post above this one).
I had to exchange my Inspire and removed the memory card from my original that had Swype installed. Couldn't get it installed on this new on.

Finally had to go in, remove all instances of swype-installer from the download folder on the SD Card. Then remove the mypackage.apk from AC_SWM folder on my computer. Then start from where you download the Swype installer from the beta program and follow the steps from there. Got it working now, hopefully that helps.

nice. got it working after the first attempt ended up with issues a few people above had. swype registered inputs and had the trail but did not type.

reinstalled with a new email invite from swype worked for me.

came from atrix with swype, now I dont miss the atrix anymore.
