[Guide] Installing Swype Beta on HTC Inspire 4G

ok can anyone point me to where to get the new swype.apk? I downloaded the new SWM and well im getting the error that the object, in this case, line 11 doesnt exist when i get there. Also cant select a language
See my above post #175, there is a typo in #11. That might be the issue.

I have fixed the typos. I get to 11 and it tells me error object doesnt exist. I am through with this. Something isn't working. Should the phone be in charge only mode or disk drive mode?

The instructions very clearly say Charge Only Mode.

...3) Plug your phone in to your computer, make sure you are in "Charge Only" Mode. (drag the notification bar at the top down to see what mode you're in, tap to change it, make sure you hit DONE).

Ok nevermind. Something happened. But now it worked. Sorry for the headaches folks. It works. After 3 days! LMAO.. Peace

Got it via Windows for my Inspire 4g.

One note **** In step one, my file was AC_SWM not AC-SWM. Dont know about other people.

Thanks for the write up!

Mine was the same, got into it and it gives me " 'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

what should I do from here?

HELP!!!

I think you need to start from scratch...delete Swype and installer from your phone..then go to page one and follow the instructions. Also read all the posts in this thread, there are some trouble shooting advice here.

The trial period ended popup appears to be what happens when the Swype installer attempts to auto-update and is blocked by the AT&T security routines on the phone. To get around this (assuming your particular Beta version isn't actually expired) is this:

1)Completely uninstall Swype and the Swype installer from your Inspire 4G.

2)Go to the AC-SWM folder on your computer and delete any .apk files you find there.

3)On your phone, open up the Beta download email you originally got from Swype and hit the download link again. The newest version of the Swype installer will download.

4)Make a note of the exact filename that is downloaded to your phone by pulling down the notification shade when the download completes. Chances are if you are updating this way, the filename will be different than the first time you installed Swype. This is important.

5)Once the installer downloads, use the steps in the original post to reinstall the updated installer to your phone. Be sure to use the new filename, if you don't you'll most likely pull and sideload the old installer and get stuck.

6)Finish the instructions in the original post to complete the package installation and Swype setup.

7)Enjoy!

Perhaps the OP or a MOD would add this info to the original posting for the benefit of all.

When you type the command line don't include ./ but leave a space between Swype-Installer.apk Swype-Installer.apk
Also check to make sure the installer file was downloaded with that name. I hope this helps.

It happened to me too. Tried to remove the mnt upfront.

put

"/adb pull /sdcard/download/Swype-Installer.apk ./Swype-Installer.apk"

I couldn't get pass the first step until I read post #37

Thanks, after that everything went smooth. I have it on my un rooted inspire.
