[GUIDE] Nexus 4 - Factory Image Restore

Hi All,
It kept getting stuck when trying to flash boot boot.img.
I though it might be because of secure boot loader

what i ended up doing was downloading:
Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.3 | WugFresh

1. booted to their custom recovery mode (under advanced utilities)
2. went back to rom (ADB mode was then supported) (flash stock + unroot -> "device is on/normal")

first and foremost, thank you very much for just putting this out here ...

im on a mac, and im at the devices step and I keep getting "command not found" when I try to query the devices command.

i swear im not this dumb, but i cant find a way around this. ive tried to query the command every way possible.

stuck in india without a phone :( help is appreciated very much so.

Make sure you've navigated to the proper directory in the terminal. See Step 2 in the Step-by-Step tab in the main post:

Open a command prompt inside the folder we have set up our files in. On Windows this can be done by holding shift as you right-click in the folder, then select "Open command window here". On Mac or on a Linux system you want to open a terminal/command prompt and navigate to that folder using "cd" or "change directory" commands. For example, if you grabbed the zip I posted earlier and extracted it on your desktop, your folder is called "nexus4-adb-fastboot" on your desktop, and you would enter:

Code:
cd desktop
cd nexus4-adb-fastboot

Basically, use the "cd" commands to get into the directory that contains the files you downloaded for this process. Then the command should work.

Most definitely completed that step. Tried on a mac and a pc at this point ... I have a screen shot below, maybe that will help show where I am going wrong?

The '-windows' part is part of the filename and needs to be included in each command.. Such as:
fastboot-windows devices

I feel like I should pay you for this. I was about to throw my phone out the window and now its up and running AND my wifi is working again which is the reason I did a factory reset in the first place. Thank you a million times over.

Hi,
To understand that this operation of restoration can be done only using a PC? I mean it can't be done as usual, using the phone, in the same way how we do when we put a custom ROM?
Or both procedures can be used?

Ok I kind of messed up and I'm hoping there is a way to fix it. I deleted the os and averything from the sd card and now windows wont recdognize the device to add to sd card I can get the nexxus rootkit to recognize it in adb but will not load anything onto the device is there a way to do this please help:confused:

I done once this thing, I deleted accidentaly my OS from sd card, and, with that Nexus Root Toolkit, which I mentioned above, I've done a full restoration with a factory image, by hitting the Flash Stock + Unroot button.
You will ask first to select the correct device that you have, and then this tool download an factory image (at least that it says) and restoring your operating system, to stock.
Therefore I asked if they know something about this restoration, if is the same as they do manualy with those commands in PC?

That's what I done when I was in your situation, and it worked.

But, is good to wait and for the most experienced users, to tells their opinion.

does anyone know anything about the missing internal storage phenomenon, where a 16GB model will only show maybe 8GB? I have seen mention of this here and there, but I haven't found anything definitive. and I am posting here because I think it MIGHT happen after you reflash the stock factory image. any ideas or info? thx!

Never heard of this, and it's kind of off topic for this help thread.
