[GUIDE] Rom Manager/Clockwork Mod The Effective Way When Flashing Custom Roms.

Thanks for this info, one question though, when you back everything up on Nandroid backup, where is that information saved (seeing as in following steps you wipe the device). and also, can someone of that backed-up info be used with the ROM you flash? kinda of like how you can re-apply everything from titanium backup onto a newly flashed ROM.

thanks for this gide. im new to android & flashing custom rom.
can you clear all your Cache Partition with app from app store? if so wat
apps do pepole recomed? as for moving the new rom to rom manger do you
need a file manager from app store? to move your dowload from sd card to rom manger.
Ass well if i need to up-grade my sd card for more space can i copy all info
from one sd card to new card & have all custom roms on new sd card to plug&play?
or is ther more to do to upgrade sd card ? like formatting
thanks for reply

Hey Brett,
I don't know if anybody still reads this thread, but I just followed your guide to flash my very first custom rom: Das Bamf 1.3 worked flawlessly on my thunderbolt. TYVM

Hi, I have this thread bookmarked, and it would be great if you could do a write up on kernals, or post a link to a similar thread.
Thanks.

rooted my thunderbolt

okay so i am brand new to android from a blackberry, i had my thunderbolt for one week and i rooted it properly. Im just trying to find out what to do next? Roms kernals? how do i go about doing that? Iwant to get a 3-d affect on phone that i saw someone had on my apps.!!!! Can anyone help? thank you very much

First thing I would do would be do step #4 and make a nandroid backup before you do any flashing of ROMs or kernels. Most of the ROMs out for the Thunderbolt have custom kernels built into them so I would start looking at the ROMs and pick one you like. I have been using Perfect Storm and really like it. Just find the one that suites you and follow the directions Brett made in the first post. If you have any questions just ask :)

The only 3D app I'm aware of is the SPB Shell 3D launcher which is in the market and cost $15 hope this helps.

I have ROM Manager Premium, but I never use it to flash ROMs. I really only use it to perform a nandroid backup. The reason I don't flash a ROM is because I want to make sure I get to wipe data/cache and Dalvik 3x each first. Is there a way to simply use ROM Mgr to download, but NOT flash a ROM? This would allow me to just do it manually in recovery.

Re: [GUIDE] Rom Manager/Clockwork Mod The Effective Way When Flas

I know this thread is a bit long in the tooth, but just wanted to say I used these instructions to flash CM7 on my Inspire, and it went without a hitch.

I'd been searching quite a bit about flashing ROMs, and this is far and away the clearest and most accessible guide out there, at least of the ones I've found. Thanks for all who put this how-to together.

Re: [GUIDE] Rom Manager/Clockwork Mod The Effective Way When Flas

Rom Manager was a great tool.... for it's time. You'll find more people nowdays, are using the original method for flashing (copy to sd, boot to recovery) as they encounter less issues. But RM is still useful for checking and downloading fresh roms and flashing Clockwork recovery.

I notice the guide now, has been moved to the regular section, destined to drift away in countless pages of unread posts :'(

Re: [GUIDE] Rom Manager/Clockwork Mod The Effective Way When Flas

I am newbie. I rooted my HTC evo view 4G tablet. When I try any function of Rom Manager, it says I do not have clockworkmod recovery, I thought I did. Please help how I can re-install clockworkmod recovery again, and which device I should choose, it seems no this tablet is listed. Do I need to download one? Please give me some detail instruction. I really appreciate.

Hello

I have a rom manager question. I followed the link above to install a new rom. I backed up my stock rom in backup and manage but nothing shows up in manage roms... all I have is a blank grey screen.. Is this because its a stock rom or do I have an app issue? A
ny ideas? Thanks for any help you can give
