[GUIDE] Rooting 3.7/Hboot2.02+ w/screen shots (1/27/2011)

I am having some problems with the market. I cannot install the updates for Angry Birds or Angry Birds Seasons. Additionally, whenever I try to install Fring I receive an installation error message saying that the package file is invalid.

I have cleared the Market's data and cache and rebooted, and still have the problems.

I have been able to install and updates other apps from the market on my Evo, as well as install apps from the market web site, so I don't think it is a general market problem.

Any thoughts?

I was also having 4G problems, but that was cured by updating my Profile and PRL.

However, the market is still causing problems. I will not update/download certain programs - Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Fring, Documents to Go. I was able to download programs from the Market on the phone and on the web. Very puzzling.

Looks like the z4root and titanium backup issue is not unique to me... found a few threads at xda that people with the 3.70 OTA update and 2.10 hboot are basically unable to get full su permissions for TB to work.

Any other way to back up my app data (including save game files, settings, etc.) before doing this? Would really prefer not to have to start over Angry Birds again. :) Also posted a question in the xda thread so will let everyone know what the outcome is.

Nope, this happens sometimes with ROM Manager, have you tried it a few times and rebooted and tried it?

If you need to install clockworkmod recovery manually, you can get this file: PC36IMG.zip and place it on the root of your sdcard.

Then power off your phone, then power it on by pressing volume down and the power button at the same time, hit volume up to apply the update, hit no to reboot the phone and select recovery from the menu. Now you'll be in clockworkmod recovery 2.6.0.1, reboot your phone from recovery go back in to rom manager and see if it's listed. If it asks you to update to 3.0.0.5 I'd hold off for a bit.

Yeah, I've tried rebooting to no avail. I'll try installing the clockwork mod file noted above tonight.

If all else fails, is there a way to un-unroot the phone and restore the stock rom? Or am I out of luck since I can't backup?

Do you update the profile and PRL in the developer app from the sprint lover's rom, or do you do it in the settings?

I did it in settings today. I don't know how to update the profile and PRL in the developer app. (I am an admitted noob.)

I rooted just last week with the latest version of the exploit --hboot_2.xx_soff-V9.zip. I verified the MD5 sums before running.

Did you put the PC36IMG on your sdcard and go in to the boot loader?

edit: wow sorry totally missed that, yeah just put that on and you'll be fine.

I think settings is really the only way to do it, or probably some kind of ## dail code # but it's the same thing, there's only one profile and prl to be updated.

So I seem to be having some other issues with the root and sprint lovers rom:

being able to call or answer calls is spotty, and when I turn my phone off, sometimes, I can't turn it back on. When I press the power button, the buttons at the bottom of the phone flash light, but doesn't power on. I can't even get it to boot up in boot mode (holding power button and volume down).

This may have been to big of a root for me and is starting to scare me, so I'm wondering if and how I can restore the root and stock rom.

Ok, so forgive my idiocy. I read again and reread again the instructions for the install. I noticed the downloaded zip had all the necessary files except the rom manager apk. I also realized (when I was first installing, towards the end) what was meant when instructed to hit enter after each command. Previously, I copied and pasted the entire quoted group into the command prompt and pressed enter.

Anyway, I reinstalled the file pc36img file you recommended, thefredelement, and went through the set up process on the instructions again from that point. I realized, I previously renamed the zip files in my C: drive and not in the sd card. DOH! So long story short, at the end of this install, I realized I wasn't previously on the sprint lovers rom, but the stock rooted rom, I suppose. I installed rom manager from the market and the clockwork recovery worked fine. Thank you everyone for the help, especially everyone who takes the time to make these roots and roms to share with us.
Now if anyone has any cool rom or memory optimizing app suggestions for my newly rooted phone, let me know!

If you used this guide to root you have to use this guide to fully unroot: http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...turn-stock-after-using-unrevoked-forever.html

Following the other guide will just restore your factory software but leave S-OFF.

If you're in to HTC/Sprint software I really recommend EViO 2 (you can find it at XDA).

The rom manager apk isn't meant to be included in the zip.

Once you have Sync installed and all of the other software downloaded, how long does this process take?

ok so i rooted and now i want to change my rom the question i have is...

what I want to know is if i have apps like key pass and mobisle notes and they do their own back-ups to my SD card, when i do a full wipe will those still be there and usable after i reinstall my apps or will i lose all the data and the back-ups not be any good ?

Ok undid the unrevoked root and went the long way....thank you for all the help and great info on here too!!
