Yeah, definitely agree. Thanks to helpful forum members, I now have Koni's ELITE Series II ROM ([ROM][ACS] Koni's ELITE Series II - (ES2 - 02/25/11) - It's the Art of Speed!!! - xda-developers) running smoothly (so far) on my phone.
Yes, I had, But the issue is now moot. I had an accident with the phone and had to send it in for the warranty. Since it was not rooted, all was fine and the guide worked on my new phone. I apologize for not replying earlier; I was busy with moving and then no internet at my new place, and other minor issues that life seems to throw at us.
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for this guide, as I said, the new phone worked perfectly with this guide, and I recommend it to anyone wishing to root their evos!
for step #2 im getting error "htc sync port PC36100 is not responding please disconnect and reconnect cable in 10 seconds" i did that and still the same error...is it safe for me to skip this step? what should i do if it continuously doesn't recognize my phone? !HELP! also i had to enable usb debugging for this because it wasn't recognizing it as charge only
ok Im going to give this a try.. Im so nervous.. This isnt like the Iphone 35 I had before..( LMBO ) Where I could just connect to itunes and click restore.. This is a bit more in depth ( which i dont mind) but what scares me are the millions of ROMS which I dont seem to get.. There isnt just ONE main root?? Maybe Im speaking jibberish..LOL.. OK going to try and root.. Wish me luck
OK I had to edit this because i was super nervous about bricking.. I didnt!!!! I did it!! OMGOSH the process was very easy and screen shots were to the point.. Yea I could have used the unrevoked method on the web the easy way.. But I love complex and command installation....

hello im a 1st timer at rooting and wanted to know if the only thing that is supposed to be in the black command prompt is c:/evoroot> ? mine is saying c:/users/myname>. also should i include the (>) mark myself since it isnt automatically doing it.

Im a first time rooter as well.. and the reason yours is saying c:/users etc is because you didnt go to the file where you downloaded... So I hope this helps:
What you need to do is 1) locate your download of files/ ( I created a folder in the C: thats called " evoroot ") 2) when you create the folder and have all the files downloaded in that folder then take your mouse and click on it just to highlight that folder.. 3) the press and hold left shift then right click and you will see " open in command here".. then you will see the name of the folder as listed...
Please please follow the instructions to a tee.. I was nervous about rooting and I did it and I LOVE IT!! dont skip ahead just read each line for line....

Ok, first time rooter here and following these steps, I'm currently on step 8, copied first line "adb shell" and now I've seen what appears to be a dollar sign for maybe 5 minutes or so. Tried hitting enter and dollar sign prompt keeps appearing. Did something go wrong? I've followed it to a "T" so far but now I'm in limbo - HELP!!!

if youre putting in the command prompts a "#" sign will come up.. thats where you still put in the command prompts and press enter to back up your data..
Hmm....maybe I'm missing something or did something wrong. I now notice for step 8 it states "In command prompt type: (hit enter after each line, after you hit SU, you must hit ?allow? on your phone).
I didn't type adb shell I copied and pasted it like the commands prior and was waiting for a response. The response I got was that dollar sign prompt, I then typed su and then it came back and said permission denied and I'm staring at a blinking cursor still at the dollar sign prompt.
im stuck at the red triangle i believe i moved the volume rocker down and it said update cancelled. Is there anyway i can do that part over again?
ok i found a way to do it over again but now my radio and bootloader and update failed..its asking to reboot device help please
