you got it right, you should have rootboot.img, su, Superuser.apk.

then at one point you push over su

then the point you're stuck at is creating a link with that file, which shouldn't be a problem, but a quick workaround would be this:

adb push su /system/xbin/

So instead of linking you just have the same file in two places. There's no good reason why it's not working for you though.

ok i think thats the issue right there, i enter the push line then all these stuff appear on the screen but it doesnt say anything about data transferred.

what pops up on the screen seems to me like its the help file or something like that, it goes and describes everything

ok then yeah that is the problem, it looks like adb isn't pushing the file for some reason, are you entering the line exactly as it appears?

yes, that what i initially thought i did. so i went and retype everyline like 10 times double checking each time if i spelled everything correctly. now im just lost and dunno what else to do.

Why did we never sticky the root how too. I used it to root mine and had to search for it a few weeks ago. Sticky it is.

Just a thought ... did the new OS push to 3.0.1 cause a problem with the rooting process? Did Motorola change something to prevent rooting? (I decided to wait on rooting mine until LTE comes out, but I'm paying attention so I'll be ready.)

Moto wont block root or lock the bootloader on this guy. The update didn't change anything so you will be good after you get 4g and want to root.

Ok, well make sure "su" is in the same directory as adb, but it sounds like "adb push" isn't being recognized properly for some reason.

Where did you get your adb file from?

ok i got it now, thanks for all the help, my problem was i didnt put in the spaces that are there, i went to another page and notice the spaces better, tried it and it works now.
