Hacking the Sense keyboard?

So I'd like to know what hacks are available, or where to look, to modify the HTC keyboard.
I'm mostly happy with it, but I'd like to see if there's a way to modify a few aspects:

(Mainly copying the Photon's Motoblur keyboard)

1) Shorten the time needed to hold on a key to use the symbol on it. It seems to take entirely too long holding on keys to get to the symbol
2) Make the vibrate a weaker pulse. I like the haptic feedback, but the Photon's feels a LOT more realistic. I feel like I'll get nerve damage on the Evo 3D

I don't know if you can customize the HTC keyboard or not but I personally use Smart Keyboard Pro from the market...you can customize everything you mentioned...there is also a free version if you want to give it a spin first.
