Handbrake help?

Hello, I'm having some issues so want to draw on the collective brilliance that is AndroidCentral.

I've installed HandBrake and ripped Anchorman to my Laptop as an MP4 file and I was planning to copy it to my Nexus and then use MX Player to watch it on my commute. However I've hit a snag, it won't let me copy the file to my Nexus. Any help with this at all? I used the Android High preset so thought it would all go smoothly.

This is the first file that I've tried to transfer to be honest. It comes up with two errors, one saying "not enough space" (when there is) and another saying not compatible.

Ok, I'll give it a go when I get home from work. Cheers for the help, hopefully this is going to make a long coach journey this weekend a bit more bareable.

Ok, tried your tester and it worked fine. Then used the settings you recommended in Handbrake to rip another DVD, this seemed to work and I was able to put it onto my Nexus although it appeared to be a different icon (Pretty sure I selected MP4 for both when processing). I tried to play it via MX Player and although it detects it, it is unable to play. Any ideas?

Ok, can't check now as I'm at work but will have a look later. The file icon did appear different to the MP4 Tester that you supplied, it looked like this MP4.jpg

I followed your instructions, was there anything else that I maybe should have done? To recap, I selected AppleTV2 as the preset, unselected the large file tick box, then saved this as a new preset. Then I just processed as normal.

Just an fyi but it shouldn't have anything to do with MX player as even the default Video app can play mp4s created this way. Also, given those settings you should just be able to change the file extension from m4v to mp4 and it should play. I know I had to when I converted a bunch dvds years ago and those files work fine on my phone too.
