I was using Handcent, but it gave me a lot of problems, including deleting all my text messages twice. I was told that Handcent is buggy on the 2.1 system and should not be used.

Are there any good alternative that are not buggy with Incredible?

Ideally I would like it to:

1) Block incoming texts from displaying at top of screen when phone is locked

2) Archive feature for threads. I have over 2,000 texts with one person. It's slowing me down whenever I loud that thread.

Hmmm, I've been using Handcent for a few weeks now with no probs, I like it!!!

Why do you need to keep 2,000 messages from someone? I normally delete the entire thread when we are done talking for the day, if it ends up being a couple hundred messages so be it, but it gets deleted. Especially if it's slowing my phone down.

And Hancent is the only one I'm aware of that does any of that. Have you tried chompsms maybe it can too?

Been using Handcent for quite awhile. No problems at all. And it doesn't wake up my phone to put a message across the top. Only does it when the phone is already awake.

I only have handcent a week and it mad me crazy. My sound notifications would go off for my contacts that I assigned and so would other sounds. My alarm would not go off when it was installed for that whole week for some reason to.q
I did have it clear all of my texts once also, crazy.

Part of it for social reasons. My personality type of liking to keep stuff.
A lot of it is for work. Needing records of "who implemented that" or "who gave that explanation" or "was so and so made aware of blank" comes up very often, even a couple years later. Easier to save all, then selectively guess & save.

Yeah, the fact it's slowing me down is why I'm trying to find a solution.

I'll give chompsms a try. Thanks.
