Hangouts VoIP calls over HSPA network

Anybody using their Nexus 4 to make and receive VoIP calls using Hangouts? If so, how is it?

AC's Andrew Martonik's article I'm going all-in with Hangouts for messaging and calls | Android Central got me interested trying T-mobile's 5GB 100 minute talk $30 plan?

Just remember that 2G isn't sufficient for VOIP, so be sure your area has good data coverage.

Edit: actually that might not be true. It seems to depend on the service. Not sure about Google Voice.

I've done Skype (voice only) calls over throttled Cricket (~100 kbps), and it worked fine.
