Android Central Question

I need to buy new phone i have 2 choices:
-Used S8 Plus (used for 2 months, no scratches or anything)
-New A50
I need a phone that will last at least 2 years (to dont bug or go crazy and to have good battery after 2 years), and need a fast phone. I have time until tomorrow.

Welcome to Android Central! How reliable is the seller of the used S8+? Is it through eBay or some other outlet that offers plenty of protections for the buyer? If so, then I'd go for the S8+. But if it's a private seller that you don't know, and if the new A50 is from a store, I'd probably lean toward the latter.

Hey, it's me. My dad bought new S8 before half a year from him. He is a phone dealer with his own store in my city with service. He offers varrianty how much I want. A50 is also from his store, I will buy from him because lower price than in store (not much but still is something). Price of A50 is 290e, and for S8 Plus (it doesn't have any scratches, any dents or something like that, phone is like brand new) 330e. I'm sceptical about second hand phones and don't know what to do. My current phone (J5 2016) was new but one guy offered me his for 130e (back then it was around 240e), almost 1 y/o, and I didn't accepted it, but my friend bought it and it died after a 4 month of usage. S8 is now old phone (2y/o phone). Don't know what to do

A used phone with a warranty is as good as a new phone with a warranty. If anything goes wrong he fixes it, or gives you another S8+. Make sure the warranty covers the battery, or that he puts in a new one, because if you treat the battery wrong (it should be kept between 40% and 95%), you can kill it quickly - a lot less than 2 years. (Also, because they're lithium batteries, which create thing called dendrites sometimes, a new battery can go bad at any time no matter how well you take care of them - see Lithium Battery Dendrite links if you're interested.)

But there's no comparison between an S8+ and an A50. the A50 is a mid-range phone, at best.

Just heard from some friends that they bought used phone from him and they say its s*it, it was like awful condition but it was good outside (screen, back, ports, etc) and they used his/her warrianty couple times because of phone condition. I will ask to do water test (he will accept it if S8+ wasnt opened because i dont think if it was opened, he didnt installed back water/dust protection). I saw some dirt in charging port and in speakers (its silver so I can easy see it). I saw some test and of course S8+ is better, its flagship but in my case its used. Dont know what to do. He said that "Phone comes with everything (charger, headphones, USB adapters) but no box" but I know box can be used for IMEI to track phone by police. Also he told my dad "S8+ is better than S8 in every way, better processor, faster phone, etc." but I know only difference is size of screen and battery. Also I dont know condition of battery, previoua owner could destroy battery life for those "2 MONTHS OF USAGE" although ports are telling me that phone was in some dirt/mud. And I dont know how will battery be after 2 years because S8+ is old phone with old software and A50 is phone from 2/2019. Never bought used phone, thats why i am sceptical.
