Android Central Question

I have a samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 that I used to download an e-book from a site using Google Chrome. After the file was downloaded seemingly right the tablet rebooted. After the reboot it stayed open for around 1 minute and then rebooted again. This was happening every time it was restarting. So, I tried to delete the downloaded file and even Google Chrome app, but every time I tapped Google Chrome icon, or tried to delete it or the file the tablet immediately freezed and rebooted. I tried both in normal and safe mode. After that I tried to hard reset it and clean cache parturition via Power button + Volume up but neither worked. In fact it restarted again with all my data, downloads and even desktop image as if I had never done a hard reset. So now I don't know what to do. Is there any way to fix the problem or the device is useless from now on?

Welcome to Android Central! Which site did you get the book from? If the tablet has an SD card inserted, try removing it and rebooting.

Thanks for the welcome and the answer! I downloaded it from ebook3000.com. I use to download quite often from this site (mostly via pc and less often immediately from my tablet). Yes, the tablet has an SD card inserted. I'll try to remove it and then reboot and see what will happen. Also, do you have any idea why this constant rebooting and lagging when tapping Google Chrome or trying to delete it or the downloaded file happens? I thought that maybe the downloaded file was a malware or had a virus incorporated. But then, as I said, I have already downloaded many pdf files from this site and nothing like this happened before. So, could it be a fault of Google Chrome itself? Like it didn't really completed the download? Again, thanks for the answer!

Hard to say -- malware is always possible. Can you try going to Settings>Apps, selecting Chrome, then clearing cache/data?

I removed SD card and rebooted but again the same. I also tried a hard reset without SD and again it didn't work. Now, about Google Chrome, I can't clear cache/data, because the device reboots before it can calculate those parameters and of course can't delete it either because this forces it to reboot. I also forgot to say that everything else works perfectly. I can start apps like Google Drive, Dropbox, ISSUU and a game that I have (well, the game when I had inserted the SD), my album and Downloads folder, and even the pre-installed Internet (Explorer?) browser and all work normally. Of course, when I tap Google Chrome icon the tablet freezes and reboots.

What if you try to uninstall Chrome (or uninstall all updates) from the Play Store's page for Chrome? Or does it still reboot before you can get there?

I tried to do this today and found out something really weird that I hadn't noticed before. The Playstore icon has vanished from the tablet and so the app itself, I even searched for it in Settings>Apps for it and found nothing! So now I think that maybe this disappearance has something to do with the freeze/reboot/Google Chrome problem. The situation has surely become more complicated....

There is a problem with Kies. My model type is GT-P5110 and according to the program ''GT-P5110 doesn't support initialisation''. Could I use another model type (maybe not but I am not expert) or another command (eg Emergency firmware recovery) or try instead with Odin? Or even this would be useless?

And something more. I can't find the stock firmware for Greece if I am going to try with Odin. Can I download the stock firmware for another European country, or this could result to more faults?

A quick correction. I found firmware for Greece but nowhere for free download. Even in SamMobile Firmwares it is under premium downloads like all other firmwares for GT-P5110 and in the other suggested site of the Odin link (XDA Forums) the download link is not working for any firmware. Sorry for the overlaying posts but I am a first-trier to all this.

What version of Android is the device running? If it's 4.2 or below, make sure you're using Kies version 2.6. Above 4.2, use Kies version 3.

It is running 4.2.2 so I downloaded Kies version 2.6, beacause I thought that it was a subcategory of 4.2. Maybe I should try with Kies version 3?
