Hard to believe

It's not touchwiz anymore, Samsung Experience... since the 8+ and on no more lags
I have the s8+and s9+ no lags owned them from launch

I remember hearing the same thing back when I had a Galaxy S3. But if you look around there are still people having lag issues with Samsung devices after the S8, maybe not as much, but it's still there.

I haven't had the best history with Samsung products, and it's not limited to mobile devices. TVs, Blu-ray players, washing machines, etc. I've had serious issues with all of them. I like their designs for the most part, but I just have no luck with Samsung products, which is why I don't even consider them anymore.

It has a larger screen though. There's no excuse for not at least sticking with the same size battery.

Doesn't matter for me though because after seeing the leaks I went with the Note 9. My last Samsung was the Note 7 and returned it right away. Couldn't stand the UI and lag right off the bat. This time around has been different. I haven't seen lag yet and UI is better. I am actually loving the experience.

I don't know about the validity of excuses but the difference in size is negligible. Glad to hear you like the Note. It's hard to beat in the hardware arena.

For the above mentioned electronics and appliances, I've switched to LG and haven't had much in the way of issues, if any. My LG TV from 2008 is still running, and the washer and dryer we got have been flawless.

I've never had their phones. When I said electronics, I meant to say consumer electronics. As for phones, I've had:
4 HTC - Incredible 1&2, Thunderbolt for 1 month, & Rezound
1 Samsung - Galaxy S3
4 Moto - Droid Maxx, Moto X 2013, Turbo 1&2
3 Google - Nexus 6p, Pixel 1&2

My brother and a niece both had the Samsung Stratosphere, both of them replaced it 3 times during their 2 year contracts, and the main board went out of the Samsung TV my brother had. So I guess it's safe to say my family hasn't had good luck with Sammy. Maybe they just send their B quality to where we live.

I feel the same. Had an S3. The microphone never worked and Samsung Customer Service was dreadful. I ended up with a non-functioning phone and a 2 year contract. Was fuming. Bought a Samsung smart TV and after a year they started removing apps. I had a camera and they removed Skype. They removed social tv and more. Just fuming. My husband's original Note lagged badly. He loved his Note 4 but moved to a Pixel 2 XL. He hated the bloatware and loves the clean experience with his Pixel.

So I now avoid Samsung. Although my Mum loves her Note 8 I don't like it. I had to set it up for her so I used it for several hours. All I can say is that I prefer my P2 XL hands down over her Note 8.

Wow! That must cost you a lot. We have 5 lines at home currently. I have 3 (Pixel 2 XL on O2 and Moto G6 Play Dual Sim on Smarty and Giffgaff). My husband has Pixel 2 XL on Three and my Enby has an iPhone 6s on Three. Plus I have a contract for my son (Pixel XL OG on Three) and for my best friend Elayne (Mptp G6 Play on O2) Costs around £140 a month for all the contracts, plus Giffgaff is PAYG so I top up once every 6 mpnths or so by £5. I keep it for my friend on Giffgaff to call me for free. My Enby has a vodafone PAYG sim ready for when they set their business up which should be in a few month's time.

But I think mobile phones are more expensive in the USA than they are over here. Both my Enby and my husband pay £19 a month for unlimited minutes, texts and data. They can also use these in the USA and Europe and Australia and New Zealand.

My O2 contract includes my P2XL and is £56 a month for unlimited minutes, texts and 15GB data. We do tend to have much cheaper data over here in the UK compared to the USA.

I'm about 190.00 with tax

Edit: it's a business expense 😉

I don't know what Verizon payment plan you were on but I paid off a phone last early and there was no penalty.

Most of their deals involve bill credits, I got $300 off my Note 8 via bill credit of 12.50/month for 2 years, but it was financed for the regular price. If I pay it off, I pay off the full value and lose the credits. It's their way of keeping customers.

That's how they get you

Yeah, starting in 2016, Verizon stopped giving their phone discounts in one shot like they used to. So when you see them say phone A is $100 off, there's a disclaimer that instead of getting the deduction at time of sale or on the next bill, you get monthly bill credits (each 1/24th of the total discount), spread out over 24 months. So if you decide to upgrade after 12 months, and go to pay off your current device, you lose half of your discount.

As I've said both here and to Verizon, it's essentially a 2 year contract without calling it that. Except with the old 2 year contracts, if you got a discount, you got it right away in one lump sum. So if you upgraded after one year, you didn't lose your discount (or part of it) when you paid your device off. If I had a choice, I'd rather go back to the 2 year contracts with the full discount in one payment. At least then it doesn't seem like Verizon is penalizing you for upgrading.

If this is being done to stem turnover, the least they should do is give you the remainder of the discount when you pay off your device when you upgrade. You're not leaving, just getting a new device. If you want to leave your contract early, I could understand forfeiting your discount, as they'll be losing future revenue. It would be similar to the ETFs they used to have. But here they're making you choose between a new device or getting the discount that prompted you to upgrade to your current device.

Leave it to Verizon to take the loss of 2 year contracts and find a way to screw over their customers even worse then before.

I've never paid for a phone over a 24 month contract....... and we haven't been on any contract for probably 16 years now..... we've been with AT&T for about 20 years. When you're not in a contract it's amazing the deals you can squeeze out of a carrier..... and man have I squeezed lol.
I pick up last year's flagships after the new ones come out and everybody looks at the old one like it's rotting meat. I buy outright and wait until they hit about half price. Works for me ;-)
