Has anyone else besides me decided to return their Photon?

OK guys... about the screen. Today when i took my phone outside first thing in the morning, i noticed not the pixelation that everyone is talking about but the actual grid. it shows up when you angle the screen slightly and looks like .25" squares, the lines are more pronounced along the height of the screen that look kinda blueish color. once i noticed that, i couldn't stop looking at it.So i called my sprint store and asked them to repeat my experience, the sales girl said they couldn't see anything. Going there after work to compare... will update later tonight. But if any one of you see same thing, please let me know.

thanks

I am just going to sell mine on Ebay and get a profit for now. I hate the pentile display after coming from a Nexus S. The Nexus will have to do for now even with its subpar signal strength...

Not only do I notice it but i can count it. There are 9 vertical purple/bluish lines. I didn't bother with the horizontal lines as it was less noticeable. I went to the store yesterday to look at the store model. It has the same lines but nowhere near as noticeable as mine was. They brush me off when I show them the problem. I might go back some other day when they are not so busy to try again.

We have a saying in public saftey when we talk about Motorola "You can buy better but you can't buy more expensive"

That in itself made me a bit leery on purchasing this phone. I am coming from an Evo 4G that I have had for just over a year. I had no plans on purchasing it but my daughter's phone went on the fritz and it was either her get a new one or me.. and since I pay the bill I voted for myself : )

Anyhow to make a long story longer... haha - I really like the phone and I plan on keeping it. The screen while maybe to some inferior I say it is an upgrade to the Evo as I can actually read this thing outdoors. The rest of the phone including the build quality and the battery life are slightly better than the phone it is replacing. This thing is blazing fast, the email client (activesync) is much more polished than the Evo, and I am really liking what I read about the car dock.

The only think I miss so far? The HTC weather app!

The pentile screen is deff a bummer but I think I can get used to it honestly.. I really like everything else about this phone... there are a few things I seriously miss about sense 3.0 but I think i will be ok.. the build quality and solid radios are enough for me to keep this phone... I get Normal data speeds now with my photon unlike my Evo 3D!! plus the camera button doesn't get in my way like the Evo 3D did.

The problems people are describimg are with individual phones. If you are having a problem with reboots or whatever, return it now.

No way Jose not taking this Bad Boy back. Just heard we got Root Baby! Over at XDA already loving it.

i went to the store as well right after work. two the units that had on display had exactly the same problem, but i have to agree that it was less noticeable on one of them, the other one was identical. not really a deal breaker to me because i did look at the screen outside in bright sun light and found it readable, but there is something to be aware of...

Shut your face right now!! Are you serious?!?!?!

I need to go check that out right now. Thanks for the heads up!

I've only had it for a day, but after the initial set up (where it shut itself down a few times, but the manual said it might) it's been acting pretty normal. My only real complaint so far is that I'm really missing the hardware keyboard on my Pre, but I figure I have to give myself time to learn to use a virtual keyboard.

(and the phone is freaking big. Sigh.)
I'm also coming from a Pre- and the Android world does takes some getting used to! So far, I am very happy with this phone. Like a larger screen and glad it's fairly slim. It has a much more solid feel than the EVO 3D IMHO. Nice metalic touches (I could file my nails on the volume rocker).Easy to type on keyboard after coming from the finger cramp-inducing Pre-. Love the available apps (very paltry selection on the Pre-).

It's good to hear other former pre owners opinions and experiences with the photon. My photon has been ordered and is in the mail. I know it will take me a bit of time to get used to the virtual keyboard, but I'm sure I will adjust!

What apps have you gotten? Other than some stuff to accomodate the OS (the K9 mail program, the Swiftkey virtual keyboard) I haven't found anything that isn't a direct replacement for something I had on the Pre. I'm sure there's stuff out there, but I don't know what it is.

Now comes the really fun stuff!

Decided to take mine back after 24 hours also. Was coming from a evo 4g. It is a good phone but the screen was awful to me and the motoskin is pathetic. The camera was the final straw for me. I was going to keep it until I took a few pics. Highly disappointed. I swapped mine out for the 3d. To me sense is the most polished skin on any phone. One thing I did like on the photon was the 16 gb. HTC needs to get onboard with that. But if you can overlook the pentile screen and the bummy motoskin and the disappointing camera then the photon is a great phone.fast and snappy. Me I guess I'm a evo type guy lol. I'm happy with my swap

I only see any hint of grid or pixelation during animations or video. On regular text and screens the display is amazingly bright, clear, and sharp. In fact my friend with a evo 3d picked up my phone yesterday and said damn, that display looks great. The lackluster display on the 3d is actually the main reason I waited for the photon in the first place.

Also, no lockups, no reboots, no weird behavior at all. Very solid phone so far.
