Has anyone else had the mm-qcamera-daemon battery drain issue?

Both my wife and I bought Galaxy S5?s last week and her battery life has been horrible, having to charge it twice a day will little use. We looked at what was hogging the battery life and it was this mm-qcamera-daemon process. Has anyone else run into this with their S5? I googled this process and it seems to be an issue for some phones but I don?t see anyone reporting issues with the S5. She doesn?t have any weird apps installed (skype, yahoo messenger, Kik etc) so I?m not sure what triggered it. I?ll do a factory reset on her phone tonight and add apps back on one by one and see if anything triggers it. Any other advice?

I'll look at the apps she has installed again tonight to see if anything would stand out for viruses. The only thing weird she has installed is that Zedge app for backgounds and ringtones, but I have that as well and don't have any issues. Otherwise, it's all normal stuff, no weird games or anything. She didn't even have facebook installed.

Just an update to this, did a factory reset to the phone last night and all seems well now. The mm-qcamera-daemon process hasn't appeared again and the battery drain overnight was minimal.

Hi there,

I have had the S5 for nearly 6 months now. Just now I experience the same problem. The battery got drained from 88% to 0 and turned off the phone over night. I just heard about this mm-qcamera-daemon today.
Are there any fixed as of now?

best regards

I thought I had bookmarked that issue with the fix...

My suggestion is to clear the cache partition on the phone, which of course will result in a Restart of the phone.

IIRC, that is how at least one poster fixed his camera daemon problem.

Hold down the Vol Dn button, the Home Key, and the Power Button until the phone restarts.

When it does, it will present a menu, use the Vol button to cursor to "Clear Cache Partition".

or words to that effect.

please post back with your results.

The above action in no way causes a loss of settings or loss of messages. It just gets rid of all of the old junk that has filled up the cache memory, and some times, it does not get flushed out properly.

Yes i have same problem with my nexus 5 and I don't know why this happen

I think I may have solved it for my S5 running Lollipop. I noticed that it usually started when I was reading a lot on my phone mainly Facebook news links and Flipboard. I tried turning off Facebook's autoplay videos feature and haven't had the problem since. Its been a couple of days so maybe too early to say but I'll post back if it breaks again.:-\:D:-\
