Has anyone had success getting the D3 from a store?

I've heard a number of stores have their rack of accessories up. Stores up here in NH don't and even if they do won't even sell accessories till Thursday. All I wanted was a screen protector...

Just got back from the VZW store down the street. The D3 wasn’t even setup with an account yet so it only ran on wifi, but on the plus side it wasn’t shackled with a glued on Lo-Jack so I could give it the pants-pocket test. Which it passed nicely.

First impressions, it’s not that big, but it sure is heavy.

So that’s the dreaded pentile huh? Much ado about nothing imo. If they would have just changed the battery icon to a colorless icon I think most everyone would have never even noticed pentile. I looked at it close up and I can see the grid stuff, but it doesn’t look to be an issue for me. Honestly, I’m getting to the point where my eyes can’t comfortably focus on something *that* close to my face.

I did like the keyboard. More important, it feels pretty well balanced in the hand with the keyboard open.

One other thing that I haven’t seen mentioned yet, for anyone that prefers polarized sunglasses, the screen works fine in both orientations, with only minor rainbowing in the whites (My Transformer tablet, in contrast, goes completely dark when held in portrait orientation with polarized sunglasses.)

The *only* downside for me is the relatively “sharp” edges around the screen. If the radiuses had been a little larger I think the screen half would fit in better with the keyboard half, and it would be a little more comfortable to hold when closed.

That said, I think I’ll have to head over to the VZW webpage and get one on delivery.

Lastly, one guy said that they had a pile of them in the back but he would have to check the computer to see if it would let him sell me one (I’d just as soon do it online so I didn’t ask him to check) before Thursday. They’re out there guys.

But you can do that through the VZW website without having to bother.

Personally, I?m only interested in knowing how soon the stores will have working handsets to play with.

I wanted to. There is an associate there who always hooks me up (holds devices on launch day for me, etc...) so I wanted to give her the activation. Going online cuts out sales commissions to the VZW reps at the stores. It's amazing how much stuff VZW store employees "know" when they see a customer they know is profitable for them.

I got mine today from Las Vegas in a mall. Not a store like one of those little dealers in the middle. Said they got them in the morning. Posted this from it now I love it

i went into my local store on monday. i had my d3 already all i was looking for was a case and they did not have any in. in fact all of the employees huddled around my phone and asked to hold it. i really doubt they could play that dumb.

Yeah, when I went in to check it out yesterday I had one of the guys kind of looking over my shoulder when he wasn?t helping other people. At first I thought he was keeping an eye on me because the phone wasn?t lo-jacked, then I realized that he hadn?t had a chance to play with it yet and was just waiting to dink with it himself.

All the more evidence, don?t listen to in-store clerks about phone information until a day or two before it is available for purchase. They only know the info we know.

Well tomorrows the big day. Ill be at my store at 10am when they open with my boxed up Dinc2 to return and get my D3! Im excited.
