Has anyone received EI22 OTA?

I got mine on the 2nd day and am now rooted with a backup up of stock and running legendary rom 4.0.1! Excellent rom! Just as good if not better than srf IMO!

For the folks that got their update, did the phone notify you or were you going to the system update menu? I haven't gotten my update yet :(

Sent from my Samsung Epic 4G.

They should of gotten a little notification pop up which they then click on to either except the update now or later.

i unlocked my phone and right on the home screen was a pop-up menu saying there was a system update available. i had to try to contain myself because i was in class at the time :p lol

If you choose later THEN and only then will it show up under phone updates. To just keep going to your phone updates, will do nothing but waste your battery. The update must first be sent to your phone and denied by you before it will show up under the phone updates.

Does the phone notify you before it downloads the update or after? I know with the HTCs it gives you the option, but I don't remember what the Samsungs do.

My wife's Epic got the OTA last night and it installed fine. Mine has not gotten it yet. My Epic had gotten EB13 before it was pulled, then later when EC05 was pushed, my wife's phone got it a day before mine was updated. So I think it is random as to what position you are on the que.

what did it look like on screen when you guys updated? mine was connected to the computer via USB to charge it when I selected to update OTA. It started the install, i noticed a progress bar, looked away, and now for the past 5 mins the screen is on (and the menu bar) and there is the green android guy below a white triangle with an exclamation point ( ! ) inside and no progress bar. I can't tell if it's hung up or it's doing it's thing. Anyone else get a screen like this when they did their update?

I ask because my phone was rooted and was hooked up to the PC when I chose to install the OTA update.

You can't receive the OTA update while rooted... It will fail on install... Unfortunately it seems something has changed since Froyo where rooted devices with no changes other than being rooted could receive the update.

Try pulling your battery and rebooting see what happens. Otherwise see if you can boot back into CWM and restore a backup or flash a ROM to get back running. Then if that is successful you can flash a custom-stockish official GB ROM [ROM]Mostly Stock EI22 | Update 4 11/12

Otherwise worst case situation...

Procedure #1

[How to] Factory Restore (or Fix a Bricked Phone)

Then you can get the OTA or update manually.

Please report back with status or help if needed...

Paul.

Still no OTA from non-rooted Aug. 31, 2010 owner.

Update request finally popped up and is on the table doing its thing now. Fingers crossed.

Edit: I got the pop-up without manually checking (believe you me, I've been manually checking for a week). Selected Install Now, left it on table and went to bathroom (when you gotta go, you gotta go). Came back and there was a pop-up message saying there is no update, your device is up to date. What! Then I noticed that the notification bar looked different and the SD card was being scanned along with the synch icon.

SD card scanned and synch done within a few short minutes. Everything looks to be in order. Apps and data. A little disappointed that there is still noticeable lag switching between portrait and landscape. GPS locked on much quicker than before. It was off prior to update, and locking from inside house at my desk where I had troubled with Froyo. Hard KB seems to work better. It was skipping before with double letters and and still does (damn). As for speed, I wasn't fast before with real words but with mashing of letters it seems to be keeping up fine for me except the double-letter words. :'(

Thank goodness the WiFi/4G switching is working now without having to jump through hoops. The only thing now is to test if the insistently annoying beeping sound of no coverage goes away or can be turned off. Anyone?

I believe the annoying beep notification of loss of signal is still there....

Just received the OTA. I am running SRF 1.2 and Genocide. Phone is rooted, How do I proceed?

Does it download before it notifies you, or does it notify you and ask how to download? I'd rather it download over a good connection than a weak 3G signal. Hopefully it'll start when I'm at work, where 3G is actually really really fast.

If I remember correctly from Froyo, when you receive the notification to update it already has it downloaded into your device or is in progress downloading it....

Its roughly 84 mb and some change so its a decent size update. They actually were smart about this update and only included files that needed updating.

Damn. Stupid Samsung, @#$ $% &#%& %&#$%%$% @#$%$!!!! Okay, done now.

BTW: I've noticed that the old live wallpaper of ocean water is gone. Too bad, I liked that one.

If you decide to root hit me up in the R & H section and I will try and pull it from Froyo and post it there for ya.
