You can try to force the update by goto into Settings/About Phone/ then selecting the System Updates, etc..I got the notification yesterday selected instal now. It restarted in what looks like the hard reset menu did something but then gave me the reset menu options i.e. reboot, instal from sd card etc. It rebooted and nothing still on Froyo. I am rooted and that is it no roms, kernels etc. Havent recieved notification again.

Try updating your PRL/Profile? Someone posted that triggered their OTA update....I have done that a few times. I am just going to either hard reset or factory reset tonight.

Plus you always have the manual update method...
I reset my phone and it is now updating to EI22 gingerbread. About time. Lol!
Sorry i'm mobile so I can't do links very easy. Goto the official GB update thread and see the original post and towards ths bottom you will see the link to restore to Froyo with Odin.Well once the download finished and I clicked install/reboot, it went to the menu showing extracting the files then an error occurred, so I factory reseted this time. Redid everything and it occured again. Found out it is still rooted. This blows.

Do that and then you should receive the OTA update after you get on stock/unrooted Froyo.

I went to youtube found someone who linked a program from Samsung called SWUpgrade for SPH-D700 and followed the instructions and it worked. Root is gone and it is now updating to EC05, then I will update to EI22. Took awhile but I am making progress.
Again thank you for helping me!
Yes I am aware of the program. Its basically a "doctored" or masked for Windows version of Odin. Its all user friendly but behind the fancy Windows prompts its Odin in disguise... It takes all the "risks" out of the general user actually having to setup and use actual Odin.
Actually let you in on a little secret, we pulled the Froyo EB13 Odin tar from this program after it installs on your computer. If you were to look in your computer where it was installed you will find the Odin tar file for Froyo EB13 in there.
Look in this location on your computer
C:\Program Files\Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade for SPH-D700\Models\Binary\SPH-D700-EB13-8Gb-REL.tar.md5
Same file can be used in Odin![]()
Pretty cool huh?
Glad things worked out....
No problem.... I figured it was just running a bit late coming out to you... Then again that is Samsungs style isn't it? LOL..
Best of luck.
Thanks, Paul. And yes - lol! I guess as the saying goes "better late than never!" The OTA went smooth. I've been spending the past 24 hours checking things out, what's diff, what's not, all of that. Overall, I'm content and happy to have gingerbread in time for the holidays! I'll likely be lurking around the boards, periodically.
Best of luck to you as well (doing it big with the Nexus - lol), and thanks for your unmatched support of remaining Epic users, such as myself.
