Has anyone yet received 4.4.3 on their Nexus 5?

Do you have to be unrooted to get the update when it comes? I heard it makes a difference. Or I made that up in my head.... not sure.

You can be rooted but if you have messed with any system files (system apps, files, kernel, etc) the update will fail. At that point you just sideboard it via Fasboot or recovery.

Seems to include a lot of fixes for things I am not having problems with. That might be why I'm not missing it.

We should give him a break. After all, he is an iPhone user. ;)

I use both platforms i don't limit myself to either to OP asking if it requires wifi that would be a yes the updates are large at times and you wouldn't want your data plan getting used up on a update so thats a better way of helping you as a consumer out to only allow over wifi or connect the old way to iTunes if you don't have wifi.

Can we not do the making fun of someone because they use a different OS for all we know this might be someone looking to convert and now might not because some forum folks can just be flat out jerks. Back to the topic i say its always good to wait for them to get the updates right so i will wait as long as it takes for google to get my nexus updated as i don't want as someone else stated a fix to fix the fix.. IJS...

What ever happened to this update...?

I'm reading news that the Moto E is supposed to ship with 4.4.3. Is that a hint at when Nexus users will get it -- shortly before the release of the Moto E, presumably?

Some how I have a hard time believing that they'd release an update over a holiday weekend. But I guess it's possible.

I had an awful nightmare last night. I had this dream that 4.4.3 came out and I still had problems with my cell service. It was a complete nightmare I woke up screaming profusely and sweating from head to toe.

I don't root hacking so I don't care about that anyway. I just want this to come out to finally fix the battery drain issues which is really the only problem I am having with the current cruddy 4.4.2.

I have been getting about 28 to 30 hours between charges on my Nexus 5 since I moved to ART. My N5 had the best battery life of any of my smartphones. Until yesterday I didn't know what everyone was talking about from the battery drain issue from mm-q-camera-daemon. Then I read that Google has acquired Quest Visual, a developer firm for a App called "Word Lens" that is mobile translation app that uses the phone camera to instantly translate written words to another language.

Downloaded Word Lens to a fully charged phone and went to meet some friends for the Heat NBA game at a local Sports Bar where I played with the App showing them how cool Word Lens was like a magic trick. Then 15 hours later the Nexus 5 shut down due to no juice left in the battery. When I plugged in the phone and looked at the battery app discharge stats the Nexus 5 continued to discharge at a very high rate even when I was sleeping and not using the Nexus 5. Other than 15 to 20 texts messages, six short phone calls and playing with Word Lens for 15 minutes I didn't use my phone much during that 15 hours of battery. What was worst was it discharged was continuous from the charts even when I was sleeping.

I removed Word Lens App and fully recharged my N5 and now it's back to normal with 12 hours without charge it is at 96% battery again overnight. That Word Lens App really showed me what mm-q-camera-daemon was doing to the rest of people with that battery drain.

Thank you I was thinking of trying out that app but now forget about it.
