Trust me I am not saying that Google didn't drop the ball on the pre-order deal and I absolutely agree that the people who pre-ordered should have been the first to recieve them, and preferably in a first come first serve basis. But I am not going to get all worked up over it either, it's just a tablet. If it came to it and they had not shipped it within the three weeks promised, then I would probably be upset, or want some sort of compensation from them. But honestly there are more important things in life to worry about than not being the first person to get one.

Not like knocking you down or anything but i feel that you're kind of in the "well mine is moving so its not that big of a deal" mindset. Trust me i would be the same way if i saw movement on mine.

The fact is as of today that they have an official word on their website saying all pre orders shipping by today. If this does not happen, everyone who pre ordered has a right to be mad and wanting an apology, compensation, something from google....

Even if mine was not moving yet I still really wouldn't have been upset over it either. I didn't pre-order mine right out of the gate so technically for mine they would still have until the 23rd to ship it.

But on the other hand I agree with your second point completely. Since they have now announced that they are shipping all pre-orders by today if they don't, then anyone whose tablet has not been shipped or who has not recieved some kind of communication from Google has every right to be upset about it and demand some sort of compensation.... and I would be too.

I have no problem with those folks who are righteously angry over hearing nothing from Google especially the folks who ordered on Day one or two. The people who bother me are the ones complaining that people pre-ordering or just walking into a Gamestop or Sams's Club already got one, and even though they got the tracking number they still had to wait a whole 3 more days to get theirs. Yes we Pre-ordered it and should have got it first, but we didn't, oh well. I don't think we deserve any compensation just because someone else got it before us.

Like I said before though this will still probably be the last time I Pre-order anything from Google. The whole situation has been handled poorly.

Definition of pre-order from Wikipedia:

"A pre-order is an order placed for an item which has not yet been released. The idea for pre-orders came when people found it hard to get popular items in stores due to their popularity. Pre-orders allow consumers to guarantee immediate delivery on release, manufacturers can gauge how much demand there will be and hence how large initial production runs should be, and sellers can be assured of minimum sales. Gee - I could have got one in a B&M way before my pre-order arrives (especially since I ordered on 6/28 and have heard nada from Google). Also didn't get immediate delivery on release. And this wasn't mishandled by Google how? At the very least orders should have been fulfilled in the order they were received. There are no acceptable excuses for sending someone who ordered a N7 on 7/8 a unit before someone who ordered on 6/27 or 6/28.

If a preorder guarantees immediate delivery upon release why was there a need to tell people there are 2 waves of shipments? I am on the second wave 8/7, but since I preordered I should have mine already. GS has yet to call and tell me mine is ready for pickup.

My preorder on June 27 got canceled by google. when i called they were nice and said oops dont worry will fix that. oh and by the way you can expect your order in 3 to 4 weeks. we are sorry but that just how it is have a nice day. That was on July 19 the day that all the preorders where to have been shipped. google play store bad.:(

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Bright side you might get it sooner with all the refusal shipments.

Sorry to hear that. I wouldn't let that stand. Have them escalate to a manager. I just refused shipment on my 16 GB Tablet, so maybe you'll get that one. I picked one up earlier in the week, after I had heard nothing. It was nice to find out later I got shafted because I ordered a case with it.

Ah, so if they shipped it an entire week after sending me an email telling me that they had shipped it, you consider that keeping their obligation? Your logic is... well let's just say overwhelming.

Ordered June 28th, still not shipped, have not charged my card. Hour 15 on hold earlier in the week and i was told it would ship by Wednesday.
 
Just to let everyone know, if you get a tracking number from UPS, that doesn't mean UPS has the package in its possession. Google basically has only just sent the electronic data about the package (weight, destination zip, etc.) to UPS.

Until you see an initial scan from UPS (from Louisville KY for example) UPS doesn't have the package in hand.

If you sign up for UPS MyChoice on ups.com, you can get text alerts on the package progress. Free service.

In my case...
Thursday... Ups tracking number
Monday... First ups scan
Tuesday... My end of day delivery

Like most pre-orderers, I immediately opened a vein up, leaving my life on the line to receive this before anyone else, yet it did not come when I wanted it to and I died.

I'm better now, and my Nexus 7 did indeed arrive just fine.
