Maybe you guys haven't heard, but the successor to the Razr is already on it's way. Remember the Motorola Dinara? Well it's coming stateside already, in the form of the Droid Razr Max:

Motorola DROID RAZR MAX Revealed In EXIF Data – Updated RAZR Headed Our Way?

The Dinara, we already know, has a 13 MP camera, probably with an exceedingly mediocre sensor, but it also comes with a faster proc, larget battery, and a slightly better screen.

So, I ask you, has Moto lost its way?

Rather than delivering bugfixes, they simply release a new flagship every six weeks. It's been this way since the Bionic now. They are simply riding the Droid marketing campaign for maximum yield, trying to snatch as many customers as possible before they realize that there device will be a "has been" in an even shorter time than they think, then repeating with the next iteration. Motos phones no longer have anything special about them- their screens are poor, their battery life is mediocre, their physical keyboards, at least the ones I have used, are terrible, Blur is awful, and their cameras have been consistently behind the pack. Only call quality is decent on these things anymore.

So, Razr owners, what say you?

So what? Its the smartphone market, I guarantee two months after the RAZR Maxx comes out an even better phone comes out.

In no way does this impact my phone. I could renew so I bought what I thought was the best phone available and I love it. Just because someone else has a better phone than me in no way does that impact how I use and interact with my phone.

If you want to get caught up in the whole waiting game you'll never buy a phone because there's always something better coming.

I should also point out that in no way does this mean support of the RAZR stops. Motorola will still release bug fixes and all the other goodies you'd expect.

Are you serious? You make it sound like this has gone on for years. It happened...let's see...let me count...ONCE! ONE TIME they released two "flagship" phones close to each other. The Bionic, followed by the RAZR.

How long ago did the Bionic come out? 3 months ago.

Posts like this crack me up.

The RAZR rocks. Newer better phones will continue to roll out, but this one will still rock. I couldn't possibly care less.

You forgot the Droid 3 to Droid 4 which, in my opinion, is a more legitimate beef than the Bionic to RAZR haters, but I digress. Technology marches on, and although I'm interested in this RAZRMAX, I'm still very much interested in the RAZR, even over the Galaxy Nexus. A true 720p HD screen? Sounds good. Bigger battery? I'm down for it. Faster processor? Why not? Although I doubt I would notice it much in my day-to-day use. Higher MP camera? That's where they lose me. I would much rather see a better sensor in an 8MP (or even 5MP) than simply upping the MP and calling it good. I'm not shooting life-sized wall hangings with my phone, and a crappy picture I can zoom to the nose hairs takes up more space on the SD card than a crappy 8MP picture. The bottom line is, none of this will make me wait on getting the current RAZR should a deal present itself. I still want to check out the GNex, but the RAZR, even in it's current form, is still the one to beat for me. YMMV,

Atrix 1, Atrix 2, photon, Droid 1,2,3,4, Droid razr, etc. They've been doing it for a little while.

I finally stopped giving a about what might be around the corner. It's a viscious cycle, and if you're constantly pissed or worried about what might come next, you won't enjoy what you have. I'm picking up a Razr and getting rid of my iPhone, not because I think the Razr is future-proof, because it isn't. But because it does enough to suffice me for what I need a phone for. Sure there will be better stuff around the corner, but if I'm constantly worried about that, I'll never enjoy what I have and will be constantly broke.

I agree that it is slightly annoying. I, for one, wish Moto would focus on a few products and make sure they are as flawless as possible. But I still prefer what they put out to other Android products.

COUGH devour COUGH

Maybe they are pumping these phones out to finish them before the moto/google merger
that is my thought as to why they are coming so fast. Not that it really bothers me.

if your so unhappy with your phone, then you should return it. if you think moto is so awful, then you are a moron for supporting them.

and agreed, just because there may be a better phone out there then yours, doesnt mean that your phone does any less than it did yesterday, as a matter of fact, its still the same phone.

on second thought, your right. moto should just stop improving on their tech as time goes by. they hit a home run with the OG droid, why bother to make any more phones after that? one and done! im sure that if they didnt keep improving their tech and constantly releasing newer better phones, they wouldn't even be in business anymore!

This is the way companies make money. They put out something that most people will want then after a short time they put out something better. 13MP camera is something that has been around for a while now just not here in the states. Moto has the capability to put a 13MP camara in a RAZR but 8MP still sell . Here it is in a nutshell:

If a phone manufacturer designed a phone with 13MP camera, Quad Core CPU, 720P screen with Gorilla glass, NFC, ICS, the largest capacity battery available, 5GB internal memory....etc etc then what could Moto do to make it better? So they just put out a 13MP camera, only dual core CPU, 720p with Pentile screen, only 2GB memory instead of 5GB.....get the picture? Put out some appealing features but not all at one time. Bring a couple of them at a time then a year from now they have some other technology and the first example will be there but now they offer 3D screen and 8MP camera.

I think the idea is instead of delivering a near-flawless phone each year or 6 months, they deliver a decent phone with a good amount of bugs/issues/compromises that works "well enough."

Droid 3 should have been the Droid 4, for example. Go to the Motorola forums and check out the complaints. Eventually they may fix those issues, but what if they skipped the 3 and spent more time perfecting 4?

Nothing wrong with new stuff coming out, but if it's too quick it can be detrimental simply because of QC issues or stupid spec compromises.

This is my problem with this process exactly. But I'm not going to complain and whine too much, there is no perfect phone. I'm using an iPhone (which WAAAAY too many people dub as perfect) right now until my Razr comes in. Although my iPhone isn't very glitchy, it still has force closes on apps, the occasional freeze, and worst of all, it is ultimately boring as all hell.

This is a silly argument, there are more the 6 guys working at Motorola. It's not like they have a small group of employees and all they can do is fix bugs or release new phones. Stuff will get fixed, it almost always does, and new phones that are better than the one you just bought will keep coming, just the way this market works.

Forget the RAZR Maxx....

I finally spent some extended time with a Bionic the other day....and that is a nice phone, Either some screens are really defective or the screen issues are blown waaay outta proportion. Like with the RAZR.

So forget the RAZR Maxx....I may be picking up a Bionic....lol. Not to replace the RAZR but to see some things in comparison. The G Nex too.

Here is the problem.....if the Razr Max is a slightly thicker razr with a bigger battery and better screen....I'd buy it over the gn. And as long as there people like me willing to buy the next best thing they will continue to make it.

In the last six months I had the HTC Thunderbolt, Droid Bionic and now the Droid Razor and I still have all three phones. I'm using the Razor,my wife loves the Bionic and my kids use the Thunderbolt. They are all good phones for their own reason and my Razr love it battery life is great now. I get about 13 hours on a single charge. Its fast and the camera is much better since the last update. Only thing I hate right now is Verzion 4g keeps going down, but that has nothing to do with the phone. So I'm a very happy Razr owner.
