Has This Happened To You?

Not sure what happened but today I thought the smoke alarm was going off in my hotel room. The maintenance guy came up, couldn't find which one it was, then we figured out it was my phone. It was that loud. There was no notifications on my screen, it wasn't the alarm clock. I powered off the phone and that worked. Anyone have any guess what that was or the cause?

Amber alert? Emergency Alert System (EAS)? But you'll usually also get a text notification pop up for either one of those.

No, Ive had those come through before. This was a slow and steady beep just like a smoke detector going off, and the loudest notification I've ever heard. it went on for about ten minutes til I powered off the phone. I checked my battery log to see if it was some unknown app, nothing

Sounds like maybe a phone locator app that you can log into a website on another phone or computer that makes your phone "scream" so you can find it.

I should try to locate my phone tonight from my tablet and see if it's the same.

Sounds like a ad when you get redirected to spam and it says your phone may have a virus.

Either way that ain't normal.

Just did find my device, it was my normal ring tone when I had it play sound.

My sons S7E did something similar. The sound was low enough that we couldn't pin point where it was coming from. Drove us crazy late one night for half an hour. But his was a random beep every few seconds. Similar to a smoke detector with a low battery.

We tore apart his room, went into the attic above his room. Looked around the garage which is below his room. We had a good laugh afterward once we finally figured it out.

He restarted his phone and it never happened again.

Figured I'd check in to see if there's been any more occurrences? It hasn't ever done this again, so I still have no idea what it was.

I'm deaf in one ear. So, without stereo sound, I can't tell where sounds are coming from. When I use the locator from my Android Wear watch to find my phone it can be an ordeal to find it unless someone else is in the room. The fact that it's loud helps because I can move around detecting when it's louder or softer. So, loud is good. At least in my instance.

Hello all, this same thing has just started to happen to my wife's Samsung S7. Its been doing it for about a month now. THen it will stop for a few days then it has just started up again about 15mins ago. It was doing it several times day. We hadn't heard it in a couple weeks towards the begining of the month and then about 3:30am it started going off like the fire alarm. It is without a doubt the loudest sounds her or even my phone can make. We live in an apartment and the little family that lives up stairs has asked us if we had started a fire down here. I have done searches many times on line and there are several Youtube videos of the same thing happening to other peoples phone but no one has offered a solution. I think tomorrow I will take the phone back and order her a new one. It really is super loud and pretty much forces you stop what you are doing to quickly remove the batter or force shut the phone off.

So let me know iif anyone has solved this issue, please.
