Have the Tab S 10.5, ask me anything!

I may be wrong but it is a TABLET and I don't think it contains the necessary hardware to act as a cell phone?

But someone will have a better idea.

I think that I read somewhere that the USA version could not make calls, but I am not sure about other countries. I know that I have the 4G version in the USA and I cannot make calls. You can however use Skype or other Internet-based apps to make calls.

I have a Tab 10.5, 16 Gb. The touchscreen keyboard freezes up and does not respond properly when typing. Tried to reboot and did not help. Reinitialized the table and it did not help. Do you have any other solutions?

Have you tried wiping cache partition in recovery mode first to see if that helps?

Has anyone else seen a decrease in screen quality after updating to Lollipop? I noticed my images (the ones I already had) aren't as good as they used to be last week. Also, games look awful (Asphalt 8 in High Quality looked terrible). My 1080p videos used to be astonishing clear and now they look as if they were 480. Any solution or is it only me that has this problem? Thanks!

I have not updated so can't make any memory comparisons. But if what you suspect is true, I don't be updating any time soon.

I guess you might take it to a shop that sells the device and compare it, if possible with one that has not been updated.

Frankly, I wish that this generic thread would be closed so that new threads with the issue stated in the Subject would take over. I think it would attract more attention with specific threads.

With that said, there are a thread or two about the update so you might want to ask in one of those threads if folks have seen the degraded screen.

i thought the opposite of you, i think my screen is better. only complaint i had was my WIFI was horrible after the update. everything was real slow and boom beach was a nightmare to load for me. it somehow resolved itself after i shut down the tablet to charge the other day. i was ready to do a factory reset, that was how bad it was

Well, now I see the screen as good as it used to be. Don't know what I did (I reboot at least once a day), but I'm glad it is fixed. I have one more question. Does your screen lock itself after the specified time when charging? Mine doesn't turn off the display when charging (it does when it is disconnected), unless I manually do it. I don't want to enable Developer Options, but I know there is a feature that prevents the screen from turning off while charging. Is it enabled even if those options aren't available?

Recently attended the Singapore Comex IT show. Worth the trip although a lot of crowds. Got my 2nd Tab S 10.5 also an LTE version but this time with 32Gb memory and the free bundle included a 16Gb micro sd, Samsung Battery Pack 9500mAh and the Keyboard case. I was really after the keyboard case as it's hard to find. In Best Buy or Fry's it's about $150. Great deal!

I can only speculate that the usb port might be slightly damaged and that the working charger/cable fits better or makes better contact than the official chargers.

I find that plugging in cables (any cables) to the the port on my Tab S 10.5 is sometimes difficult. It is as if the port has some rough spots so that the usb plug does not easily or smoothly insert. I have to jiggle it a bit to get it in - this includes the official charger for it.

My wife has one of these tablets. One thing we haven't been able to fathom out is how to spell check anything we enter from the keyboard.

Is there an app which will always run in the background, ie from start-up? The Android for dummies suggests something which doesn't seem to be compatible with this tablet.

If there is an app could someone please recommend one.

Thanx

It does tend to AUTOCORRECT as you type. In a test email I just initiated there was a faint underline, I think, and tapping the word offered options.

As for checking, say an entire email after composing, I'm not sure.

Hi, I'm wanting to add my own pictures/photos on the lock and home screens but they don't fit, they only show the section obviously within the preset borders that come up when you want to set the photo.

I've searched all over for how to make them fit but don't seem to be able to find an answer. Is there a particular app to use?

I would guess it depends on the size/dimensions of the photo. Obviously, if you don't want it distorted in width or length, unless it is an exact size to fill out the screen, it can only take some portion of the image. That is, if I understand the issue/question.

what happened if i watch a movie or two with maximum valume? will the speaker be damaged or...? and hey, do anyone has any idea how to increase the battery life span? last time, (after i changed the battery at the official service centre because heheh i didnt take a good care of the battery) after i unplugged it from the socket, the 100% battery remained for like 12 hours (i just use it very lightly like search something on google for 5mins and turn off the wifi). but now, the 100% doesnt stay long. sometimes i just use it for 5mins and it quickly drops to 99 or sometimes 98. i wonder why and the battery drains so fast when i am using wifi compared to last time where it can at least last longer. v.v

Yeah I have the Sprint Tab as 10.5 a couple of weeks ago I was playing a game and the the screen froze that's the best description I can come up with the game kept playing so the tablet itself hadn't froze up but the screen wouldn't respond I had to hit the power button to put it to sleep then wake it up and it was back to normal it didn't happen again for awhile but it has gotten worse now it happens repeatedly no matter what you're doing

And whatever you're doing playing a game or watching a movie when it happens the game or movie keep playing but the screen becomes useless absolutely dead to the touch until you either put it to sleep and then wake it to free it up or reboot it

I've got over 50% of the internal memory free and I've deleted any apps that krkept running in the background

I've done more than one master reset and the problem not only persist but has gotten consnsistently worse

Any ideas

Hi, I had the Tab S 10.5 WiFi+LTE for about 2 months now. I find it rather disappointing in performance. Unlike my old and dumb PSP, which only required the video in a certain format and then play it flawlessly, my Tab S (SM-T805) stutters sometimes with nothing else except the video player on. And this is both when I use the wired headphones or the speakers. Something else is wrong with it: if I connect my Bluetooth headphones model LG HBS-900, both sound and video are terribly choppy and stutter heavily, actually becomes impossible to watch any video. My wireless headphones work perfectly with my laptop, though. What I discovered accidentally is that if I have the WiFi connected o any network, while the Bluetooth headphones are in use, the video and sound played are improving a lot, but still are not very good.
I have tried to narrow the cause for this by contacting LG, but their support must be the worst I've ever asked for advice, couldn't get anything out of them. They don't guarantee the headphones to work with any other than LG products??? (what a pile of bs!) So, I wonder, since the headphones are actually working with the laptop's Bluetooth, is it possible that the fault lies only with my tablet.
Any advice on troubleshooting will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Iacobra

Probably the way I asked the question, I didn't know what I was looking for to tell you the right words.

I did some google searches and discovered some wallpaper programs that means you can use the whole photo. I'm using 'Image 2 Wallpaper'.

OK, so I am looking for a simple functional slide show maker. Need a way to easily select photos to show from files on device, and have them play on the screen as a simple slide show. Maybe include various transition effects. In the Play Store there appear to be thousands of such apps, and several I have loaded and installed were quickly uninstalled as to ad loaded, or simply not functional. This seems so basic, but yet it isn't. I am quite used to manipulating photo files on my Windows PC and making simple slide shows w/ the facilities built into Windows. Over here in Android-driven tablet-land (I am a tablet newbie) things are not so obvious, nor as facile. I can't understand how to find a good app for this out of the thousands that would claim to be IT. What would you recommend?
