Have you now sworn off pre-orders?

Oh sure, the language they used was so loose they could get out of it even without those terms, which is why I didn't hold them to it. Although, it seems so many others did and that's what has been causing so many to feel deceived. Although one could argue that they failed to communicate with the customers on a timely manner, since most stated "will be delivered by September 14th" and so many reps insisted this was the case up untill it hit 12:00 AM on the 14th. They did do it a day after ETA but, at least they did do it on the day the product was release.

Yep and that is why I tell people two things (I repeat them often on here).

1) Don't trust what a rep tells you in store.. they want you to buy. Do your research. Don't take their word value to heart for everything.

2) Check terms. On everything. Ignore the big letters -- the fine print always tells the 100% truth.

Free priority shipping means that they're not charging for shipping priority with FedEx or whatever service they choose to use. It doesn't mean prioritized over other orders. I see how you're reading it, but they mean that the shipping is free. They should have said amongst the first rather than the first. That'd clean up the misreading.

Sure, but I think were most people got tripped up was where it said, "so you can be the first to enjoy your new phone." Although like I said the language is so vague I thought nothing of it and it seems so many previous note 7 buyers believed this promised them priority over other buyers, and I can definitely see where they're coming from.

Oh definitely. After speaking to a rep a second time I knew they had no idea what was going on and that's where the frustration was, especially for those early buyers, the reps were all over the board and Samsung had made no clear announcement of the delay. I think had they communicated the delay earlier many wouldn't have cancelled their orders. I doubt Samsung cares about a handful or two of cancelled orders though. They are making serious money nonetheless lol.

'You can enjoy' is pretty different than 'You will enjoy'....

I feel bad for those who preordered and did not receive those note8.

Show Samsung by cancelling and buy an iPhone X! Jk

I think we hit all points on the spectrum here. Very high Highs, even lower lows, and some in between.

I went in to my local AT&T at 10 am and returned the S8 I received as an insurance claim on the S7E I got to replace my N7. I got my orchid grey Note 8 and a $300 credit for my N4. I paid $99.32 for an early upgrade for the N8. I wasn't due until Nov, but they refunded it right then as a credit because a chat rep had told me my upgrade status wouldn't change bc of the N7 recall. I'm a happy camper.

I've never pre-ordered and idk if I ever will. Going in store on release day has worked for me since the N3.

Yall that are still waiting, hang in there. The ride is almost over and the end result is definitely worth it! I can't wait to see all of you with your N8 happily in hand.

I don't think the lows were lower than the highs were high. :)

I was pretty dang happy to get mine ten days ago. Not because I had to be first, but because I had waited so long after giving up the Note 7. That's awesome your experience worked so well going in. I think those who dislike pre-orders blow the small issues out of proportion. All the negative experiences seem to end up here on forums because people get mad, but happy people rarely run to a forum to share that. Yet most on here seem thrilled by their experience.

I politely disagree. I don't think you're happier to get yours early than those mad that they have no clue where their phone is. Does that make sense? Probably not but u get what I'm saying right? Lol.

I get both sides though. Samsung didn't really promise, they strongly insinuated. As for those who pre ordered 1st 2 days and are still left waiting; I can't say I blame them. Imagine. You and John ordered same thing, same time. John has been playing with his for a week. You have no clue where yours is and every time u speak to a rep it's a different answer. You may not be blowing smoke out your ears, but u ain't happy!

Sprint customer - ordered September 1st and received phone on September 7th. Would definitely pre-order again!

I have sworn off not opting for "Next Day Air"

Lazy UPS Teamsters, storm hit Sunday, and they wimped out on Friday , three days prior.

I ordered mine Tuesday, and it was in the store for pickup yesterday. No trouble at all.

This is the type of thing that has pre order people up in arms. It's not our fault we're enjoying it before people who reserved one, but it's certainly not fair to them. Although fair hardly ever comes into play where business/money is concerned.

Not at all. My only complaint would be not getting enough information about a delivery timeframe. I preordered on Aug 25 @ 0258, my CC was charged Aug. 26. During that 22 day stretch all my account showed was shipping from Sept. 15. But lucky me I got an email at 0042 saying it shipped and will be here today.

This same scenario happened with the iPhone back when the 6 and 6+ were released. People pre-ordered expecting to get their phone b4 or on release day. Some did not and there were phones available in stores for people to walk in and purchase. There were some iMad people.

From the consumers standpoint pre-orders are for one thing and one thing only. Getting as close to the front of the line as possible. If they don't accomplish that there's no point in pre-ordering.

this completely.

I have followed many threads during pre-orders, and I think this one has been the most positive I've ever seen. There are obviously going to be angry people (it is a forum after all), but typically I see a ton more anger from people, whereas this year the majority of people posting seem thrilled with their pre-order. If I was on the fence with pre-ordering before (I wasn't) I definitely wouldn't be after this experience. I think even people who were anti pre-order, have to notice how positive it was this time even including the freebie redemption process.

this is the smoothest preorder I have been through... especially with Verizon. Yeah you save some money usually with Best Buy but I get impatient

I think pre-order is being confused with first come first serve quite a bit here, it would of course be great if it worked that way but it is just not possible unless we all lived on the same island with just 1 warehouse right in the middle of it.
A global launch with such a vast array of channels to market where all carriers/partners/resellers all have a chunk of supply to THEIR customers etc... combined with more than double demand on the pre-orders. .... official release day was only today by the way if some haven't paid attention to that
