Have You Purchased the NEW Rezound?

Our local electronics store in Omaha was/is matching Amazons penny sale, so I had to pull the trigger. Both my wife and I had to get new phones, because our cable company that was trying to get in the cell game decided to give up. I really wanted to wait for the nexus to come out, but saving (on Tuesday at least) $600 on phones was idiotic to pass up. She go the razr (based only on the fact that the all apps folder scrolled sideways like her ipod touch, not up and down like on the rezound........) and I obviously went rezound.

My complaint is I came from a rooted Desire running a super fast rom (oxygen), so for me, things run pretty much the same, minus the ridiculous LTE speeds I get. 19 down and 11 up is my best so far. Biggest things I miss on being rooted? Power widget was in the notification area, instead of the last 10 apps used, and when the screen was off, long pressing the volume keys changed music tracks.

I don't use sense much, put go launcher on for scrollable and re-sizable widgets, and to be able the get more that 4x4 icons on the screen (stupid for how big screens are getting that this is not built into sense). Sense lock screen is nice though.

Ohh, and alb123, I have to use a BB curve on sprint for work, with a lot of it in bb browser...... it's killing me.

Rezound replaces my Orig Droid (which now serves as a wifi backup). Needed an especially sharp text reader and the 720 screen on the RZ is perfect for me. The YouTube vids are exceptionally glitch free and as good as what is sent. The phone does use up the battery rather quickly. Use it primarily on wifi but music listening and just average net and phone use brings it down to the 20-25% point at night.

Bought the extended 2750m today at VZW at 50% off retail. Seems to still be practically fully charged after 6-7 hours of "On" with lots of wifi use. Pop for the extended battery...makes for a happier day.

VZWRocks, I will look into that Ringleader Pro. Thank you for the suggestion. As far as your comment about apps, in general, you're right. There is just no comparison with the two platforms. No one wants to develop applications for the BlackBerry. It's just such a pain in the a$$ and the user base is shrinking so fast, it doesn't make sense to develop for a dying platform. I really hope BlackBerry has a winner with their new BBX OS (it will run Android apps!). Competition is good for us, the consumer. I'm glad I made the move to Android...I just wish I did it sooner!

I purchased a Rezound on Wednesday to replace my BlackBerry 9650. This is my first Android device and I am in love. I've been a BlackBerry fanboy for 3 years, since I bought my first Curve 8330...I've known for a long time that I've been living in the stone ages with my BlackBerry, but it did the things that I needed very well. I'm mainly a text'r/email guy. Browsing the web didn't interest me a ton because I'm almost always near my laptop or a desktop...and if you know what BlackBerry is like, browsing the web is a painful experience.

Well, now that I have my Rezound on 4G or even just wifi (25mbit on my home line), I am finding myself using my phone to do a lot of simple browsing. Why not? It's almost as fast as using my laptop. This blows my mind, having come from a BlackBerry. Yes, I miss the physical keyboard tremendously, but in 3 days I've already become fairly quick at typing on the glass.

I do miss my BlackBerry. Granted, I have MUCH to learn about Android (I know practically nothing about the OS at the momeny), but the BlackBerry handled some things much better. Particularly Sound Profiles. I don't care what anyone says, Android is no where near as good as BB in that department. I'll survive and get used to it though. It's not a deal-breaker by any stretch.

I'm not an app junky and that probably has a little bit to do with the fact that BlackBerry's just don't give you the opportunity to be an app junky. Still, I've put a few apps on my Rezound that I could never have on my Bold 9650, like AndChat for IRC'ing. I've installed ConnectBot for ssh & IRC'ing as well, when I need my shell.

I can't compare this to any other Android device since this is my first foray into Android, but I KNOW this phone kicks ass. The camera take beautiful pictures. There is a little bit of grain on indoor shots, when the light isn't fantastic, but every cell phone camera suffers from this a little bit. I've only done a little bit of video recording and I am more than pleased with the quality.

Sound quality is fine. I tend to talk a lot with headphones anyway, but when I don't use my headphones I would say call quality is just as good as my BlackBerry was. One complaint I have is how the speaker is on the back of the device, so when I place my phone down on my armrest (think lay-z-boy style chair), the volume of notifications and calls isn't that great. My BlackBerry had it's speaker shooting out the side of the device...Of course, you can't get devices too thin that way, but it did assure that calls & notifications were fairly loud.

I'm still getting used to the fact that you don't have to "close" apps - hitting the home button and letting Android figure out when it needs the memory is going to take a little bit of getting used to. Sometimes I find myself hitting the back arrow key repeatedly, but I'll adjust in time.

The battery life seems just fine to me. The first day that I had my Rezound I was using it non-stop and the 2nd day was very heavy use too. Yesterday I didn't use the phone too much. Maybe 10 text messages and a little bit of poking around...maybe a couple of phone calls that weren't too long. The battery lasted me until 5pm today. That was very satisfactory to me.

I'm going to have a lot of fun with this phone. I just know it. My BlackBerry was more of a tool and that's it. This Rezound is going to be the same tool with a little bit of fun thrown in, so I know I'll be happy with it. It's amazing at how fast everything is compared to my Bold 9650. I love it!

EDIT: I did mean to speak about 2 more things. I'm not exactly thrilled with the Calendar so far. I have a lot of health problems (liver transplant recipient) and it's crucial that I share calendar information with a family member. Comparing it to the BlackBerry, the Android comes up short so far. Also, my favorite app Score Mobile crashes when I try to click on an individual game/match. I went back into Android Market and saw that other Rezound users are complaining of the exact same thing. I'm confident that a fix will be available soon...but I am a tad bummed that I need to use another app in the meantime.

EDIT 2: Could someone please tell me how to remove the battery cover on this device. There isn't a latch or anything and I do not want to break the thing, but I need to know! :-)

It took me a while to get used to android, I too was a crackberry addict for

Oops...sent too quickly. I was a crackberry addict for 8 years. Made the switch last Nov, loving android.

As for profiles. I use volume ace free. It let's you create profiles and switch them with a touch of a button.

There are lots of calendar apps out the to try such as jorte and my favorite, business calendar free. I love that one.

Hope this helps.

Hi there! Just got my rezound 2 days ago. I've had the Samsung fascinate and the droid charge. Loved the charge, just that I am a phone junkie lol........ So I've actually been curious to use sence. I'm loving it so far. The screen is so crisp. I do miss the amoled screen from the Samsung phones. Anyone else come from Samsung?

I had the Fascinate and hated it. The screen was nice but it was sluggish even rooted and Samsung/Verizon was super slow in coming out with updates. I plan on avoiding Samsung phones at all costs going forward. I ordered the Rezound and am expecting it early next week.

I'm also in the process of migrating from BB. My only real gripe with anything non-BB is that they provide no way to seamlessly sync the phone with MS Outlook on a standalone computer. There have been many thousands of Android and iPhone converts from BB complaining about this over the years, but nothing has changed, even despite Androids and iPhones are trying to be marketed to the business community. (BB has a desktop app and a comprehensive and accurate syncing with Outlook is just by pressing a button.)

And I also got a "how to" question, as to how a BB function compares to Android. Say, you have a phone call coming in (either sound or vibrating notification). Without looking at the screen, can you press the power button and immediately send it to the voicemail?

I went and checked out the Rezound over the weekend as I am still on the fence between it, the Nexus and waiting to see what happens in Q1 2013.

The phone definitely looked nice, nice size, seemed fast but I have one small complaint that I want to see if anyone else feels the same. There seems to be a rather sharp edge around face of the phone. Coming from an Incredible, I would already be missing the smooth and seamless design. Anyone else noticing this or am I the only one that cares (which, totally acceptable if I am the only one that cares).

Thanks

Coming from an Incredible, I would be missing nothing...the Rezound is an excellent upgrade.

Now any ideas on how to get around the price of $294???????

If you mean via Exchange there are numerous aps to do that and the included HTC mail app does allow that kind of thing as I understand it. If you mean just syncing no I am not aware of any that do that. The Android philosophy is to put everything in the cloud and free yourself from the desktop (which can also access from the cloud as needed) but I don't know why third parties have not picked up the slack here.

each device is different but on HTC devices you can usually dismiss a call from the lock screen and thus send it to voice mail. As for not looking at the screen no I don't think so but it is possible a third party app might allow that.

My organizer has confidential info, so I'm uneasy about trusting the cloud. And no, I didn't mean via Exchange.

I guess I was looking for something like when I drive a car and the phone is in a holster.

Personal request: One of your posts had a link to multi-item Android how-tos. Can you please repost it? Thanks.

I have had the Rezound for a week and very happy with it. I upgraded from Droid X. Definitely noticed how fast the Rezound is compared to the X. I also like the Sense 3.5 and not looking to use an alternate launcher. I hated Blur on the X and always used ADW Launcher with it.

Great to hear, now if I can just find it at a decent price instead of the current $299 upgrade rate.

I'm pretty sure HTC Sense has an app that syncs with Outlook - check it out.

I'm new to the site and new to HTC. I had a Droid X prior to this. Had my Rezound for a week and I LOVE it. Still getting used to the differences, but 4GLTE is crazy fast in Sacramento, CA. Good reception everywhere. I can't figure out how to stop the vibration when calls come in... The extended battery is AWESOME! :D

HTC Sync syncs all sorts of thinks, but not Outlook Tasks. Nobody, to my knowledge, has been successful in finding an app that would.
