Okay, let's go over all of this... I'm relatively new to hacking, and try as I might, I haven't found much of anything in the answer department. This has left me very confuzzled.
I have a brand-new Virgin Mobile Optimus V with a ZV5 baseband and stock Android 2.2.2 Froyo. It has been rooted using GingerBreak 1.2, but that is the farthest I have gotten. My old phone needs to be sent in since it's busted, and I will get to that after my new one is ready to go. I have a week to get the old one back.
For the operation, I am trying to follow these sets of instructions:
Installing a Custom Operating System on an LG Optimus V with Cyanogenmod | Technology Plus
http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...-how-simplified-root-recovery-custom-rom.html
First, Recovery. Even after abusing ROM Manager, I keep getting the stock recovery. After ROM Manager failed, I decided that I want this:
http://forums.projectopencannibal.n...pen-touch-v2-0-2-(latest-update-08132012)-42/
To get that, I need this:
[GUIDE] Flash any recovery easily on the phone using flash_image - xda-developers
I renamed the .img to "recovery.img" - it's in the main index of /sdcard. But... when I crack an ADB Shell...
My su binary is up to date. My Superuser is up to date. I have tried this with both an ADB Shell and a Terminal Emulator. Same result. Terminal Emulator will sometimes spring up "Illegal Operation" as well. What the hell is this?
I also need to know more about S-OFF. How do I check that? Do I need recovery for HBOOT?
After recovery is taken care of, I want this ROM:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...2-rom-kernel-mirage-cm7-2-iho-07132013-a.html
What's the best way to flash it? ROM Manager hasn't been friendly to me.. so...
Yeah, I am lost. Any help here would be appreciated!
