Is anyone else having troubles pairing their Gear watches with their Note 9? I keep trying to pair and on my watch it keeps failing to pair. My Note shows the Gear S3 though when it scans.

I had the same issue and contacted Samsung support. After being on the phone with them for over 30 min, here is the solution that worked:

Go to your settings on your Gear 3. Choose About Gear 3. Reset.

After Gear 3 resets and reboots, your phone will pickup the Gear 3 in notifications via bluetooth. Click on it and follow the rest of the prompts to complete pairing. You're welcome.

Reset your gear first...I did that and it paired easily
Make sure you back up your stuff though

Gear Sport pairs with my Note 9. But the watch won't read the steps from Samsung Health. Frustrating.

What the hell? You talk to your watch while walking and running? I hope people don't look at you thinking you're off your rocker

Lmao I remember when the bluetooth ear piece first came out. I was in a grocery store and this lady was talking to someone thru it and I felt bad for staring at her cause I don't like to be rude. I was like what in the world? She talking to herself? Lady saw me looking and she laughed and pointed to her ear (which at the time was on other side of face so I didn't see it) and said it's my bluetooth earpiece. I was like oh ok I'll check that out. I tried and didn't like the one ear version so I got these lg headphones for both ears lol.

Wife's Gear Sport reads everything but the steps. Heart rate, bpm, etc all work fine. But it won't read the steps. Repaired, cleared caches, restarted dozens of times. She's really getting frustrated.

I know whenever you go to a new phone, you need to reset the watch. Once you reset the watch, you need to make sure you have Samsung Gear installed on your Note 9. Once those are both done, make sure Bluetooth is on on the Note 9, and connect through the Samsung Gear app on the Note 9, to the Gear S3 watch. I picked up a used Gear S3 this afternoon and it connected flawlessly, using this method.

Lol. I'm hearing impaired so Bluetooth is out of the question for me as I wear 2 hearing aids

I use my watch mainly for hands free calling while driving and when I'm walking and running.

Do you have turn phone off for that? Also, Say you leave the phone in the car and get out of Bluetooth range. Does the watch automatically kick in so to speak.

No. My watch is blue tooth only. It's not a SIM version.
