Using Samsung brand hdmi adapter to get Note 10.1 2014 edition to TV, used to work, now just keeps bouncing between "HDMI Adapter connected" to "HDMI Adapter disconnected" message, back and forth about every 3 seconds. Signal not getting toTV. Swapped out hdmi cable, hdmi port on tv, tried different tv, tried different power cord (which is plugged into adapter), port on tablet is good, even took adapter back and swapped out, same result. Worked when I first got it, a week later, can't get it to work. Rebooted tablet, tried every possible sequence of plugging stuff in. Can't find settings that would affect this. The only thing that's changed was a device update from Samsung (don't tell me they broke this...!) Any ideas or anyone else seeing this?

I have spent hours trying to find an hdmi adapter for my new samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 edition tablet. It seems as though u have found one. If u don't mind could u share the part/model number with me so I can try to locate one??

Thanks much Sherry

While the Chrome cast has some limitations that a cable might not have, if also has some benefits, among which are that it works well and it's wireless. I just got one, and boy it really is a nice little device. Makes the tablet the ultimate music playing device when connected to Google play all access, and Netflix is way cool

I just ordered one from Amazon, lets see how it works. Funny, how with this advanced tablet, you need an adapter that also needs to be powered. My 3 year old Acer Iconia A500 has its own hdmi port and just ran the cable from it to the tv just fine. Oh well..

I have a lot of .mp4 movies on my tablet do those stream well to the Chromecast?

nope, sorry. personal content is not currently supported on Chromecast from the tablet. it can from a pc with a chrome browswer extension. Chromecast is a pretty cool device, I have 2 of them, but they will only cast content from their supported apps, which are currently, hbogo, youtube, netflix, hulu, pandora and google play. those mp4 movies will play thru an hdmi connection to tv, or they can screen mirror to a tv that has that feature, or from Samsung link to a Samsung smart tv

edit: as of last week I see there is an app, PLEX, that seems to be able to do this. have not tried it, but possibly a solution :-)

I am having the same issue ... using Samsung adapter on note 10.1 2014 edition ... was working fine and then last night stopped! ! Did everything ... New cable and TV did a full restore on my tablet ... no good. I do get audio but no video .... any ideas out there or do I need to call Samsung?

I bought this from ebay and it works fine. Its 3d part and not Samsungs original and need power plugged in to work. Original Samsungs 11 pin MHL 2.0 adapter dont need power plugged in to work and "fakes" need power plugged in., or else it will display "HDMI Adapter connected" to "HDMI Adapter disconnected" message all the time, until power is plugged in the MHL adapter.
MHL2.0 HDMI Adapter Cable For Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 i9505 HDTV Micro USB 1080P | eBay

Original MHL 2.0 weights around 42 gram and fakes one weight is around 25 gram. Mine fake MHL 2.0 weight is 24 gram. I already knew it before I bought from Ebay, as long it works and it doesnt matter if original or fake for me or need power plugged in or not.
Also, the charger need to be 5.3V and normal chargers output is normal 5V. Try with another 5.3V charger if possible and see if it solve the problem.

Also there is a rumour that Samsung will disable third-party accessories with new updates (KitKat 4.4) and forced customers to use geniune accessories. This is to avoid the problems with exploding batteries bla bla. Samsung implented this in Note 3 with 4.3 update and Note 3 third-party accessories S-Cover stopped working.
Might this new "update" implented this new policy of Samsung?

I was able to get the "official" HDMI dongle working on the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 by ensuring the amperage of a 5.0V USB wall charger was 1.2A or greater. It did not work (got loop of disconnect/connect message as OP observed) with chargers below 1.0A. A generic 1.2A charger and Apple iPad Mini 2.1A charger both worked.
