Heart Rate - default app setting

Which app are you all using to measure/record your heart rate? Fit or Moto 360 Heart Rate? I'm not clear on what the difference between the two are and I'm hoping someone here can help.

Based on the presentation at Google IO, I think if you use Fit, Google logs the readings into your Google Fit profile, but I think Fit is being rolled out with Android L, so does it get recorded now if we're still on KitKat?

For Moto 360 Heart Rate, I recall agreeing to a privacy policy of some sort from Motorola when I setup the 360, which leads me to believe that the Moto app is collecting the data for Moto's health dashboard, but if so, where is it and how to access it? Also, I think someone mentioned on this week's AC podcast that the 360 will automatically check your heart rate periodically during the day, but does this only happen if you set the Moto app as the default?
