Trust me I have... If I have time ill be stopping by the VZW store near me at home over the next few days to see if theyre willing to do it. Im honestly happy my account is finally noted for the right thing and Im guaranteed to get rid of this POS in the near future. Before this phone call it was looking like I was stuck with the storm2 after a manager at a store near school ****ed me over. This forum has definitely made my decision very easy, reading through all the "issues" people have had compared to the storm....its night vs day.

It isnt a one year contract..... My family plan is eligible for a 1 year upgrade (we have a 2 year contract) Febuary 24th. The woman on the phone noted my account that if I called on January 24th I would be allowed to get the upgrade then.

It was hard for me to get rid of my storm2. The storm2 was amazing compared to the original storm. I am having lots of fun on my droid though.

Hi all. Another CB defector here. After a few BB's, I ended up with a Droid and love it. CB was great/necessity when I had a Storm. But I don't miss all the OS installs, lack of apps, battery pulls etc. In fact, there is nothing I miss from BB. BBM Was great, but sms works just fine. Push email was excellent, but my pop accounts pull every 15 minutes and that is fine with me. I have migrated over to my gmail slowly over the past week (since I bought the Droid) and eventually it will be my primary account.

Yeah I was able to upgrade early from my Storm1, because I got that "special" invite email to upgrade early to a Droid or Storm2. Obviously I chose the Droid, too many issues with the Storm1, and am very happy to have the Droid.

By the way if you do get the email you have to go to a corporate Verizon outlet to get the upgrade. Believe it or not, most Verizon kiosks in the malls are corporate Verizon outlets and the "store front" outlets with the Verizon signage are normally just authorized retailers (they couldn't give me the upgrade). I had to go to three places before I found a corporate Verizon retailer.

I never got the email but called the number in the first post of the thread linked below and got the early upgrade anyway. It all depends on what rep you get if you didn't get the email. First one said no. I called back 10 minutes later and the second rep said yes. If you didn't get, call the number anyway. If you are denied, try back later with a different rep. if on verizon you can upgrade 4 months before contract is up.. may be diff with 1 yr. contract not sure..

I think without dealing with managers and saying you will leave ect. its like 20months in for a 2 year contract and 10 months for a 1 year.

Leaving BB will be painless for me. I dont use BBM at all... I have facebook, SMS, email and aim do I really need another text based way to talk on my phone.. not to mention I already have a gmail account that pulls my school email

24 hours & the BBM withdrawl seems to have passed, Google talk works fine for me so far...

i called my local store and they told me to call customer service, i did this and was very nice to the girl i got and she spoke with her manager... since i had no late fees etc. they moved my upgrade date from jan. 29 to yesterday which is how i got my droid! i suggest trying this out

I already called CS and they said to call back on the 24th to get my date pushed from February 24th to January 24th... the woman in the store today was a bitch but my dad said hes gotten upgrades pushed up sense around when we got the original contract so they probably just dont want to do it again... ill just wait until the 24th

30 days is still a good advancement, i thought your actual date was jan 24th i didn't realize when you said the end of january that was including an advancement on your upgrade time lol, good luck man i love my droid! lol

I do appreciate the 30 days but I cant help feeling that VZW owes us something after the S1 was so awful and the S2 was not much of an improvement, I spent more time during finals week trying to get my phone to work than I did on finals.

I played around with a droid again in the store while I waited... I really loved 2.01. I havnt been this excited about a phone before. Who knows by the time my upgrade rolls around VZW might have released something even cooler (rumored HTC phones) but its only like 26 days away so i doubt it....nothing wrong with wishful thinking though.

Another blackberry/crackberry defector here. Deep sixed my storm 9530 for a Droid. I'm a very happy camper. I miss blackberry messenger a little bit though (at least until I figure out an alternate way to communicate with my hard headed friends who insist on keeping their blackberry phones).

Try textplus in the market, its the closest thing I've found to bbm.
