As the title says I bought an Evo off a friend of mine it was running Unrevoked Forever, and clockworksmod kernel I was trying to upgrade to android 2.3 via ota and it wouldn't let me so I decided to try and unroot it. Well that failed miserably so I being an idiot I tried to dl the stock kernel and flash that and oh it flashed alright. Now when I try and turn the phone on it just comes up with the unrevoked screena and sits there. I can still get into boot recovery but thats about it, is there any hope or am I done. If so please let me know how to get this thing back to stock so I can have a phone again thanks.:(

You should first try holding the vol and power down at the same time and when you get to the hboot screen select recovery using vol down and power to select recovery! then go to backup/restore then select advanced and see if there is a restore to choose from.......check this link out for more info if you look you will find ha......HTC Supersonic/ROMs - XDA-Developers

Flashing just a Kernel will not unroot, as you found out.

If you just wanted the update then all you needed was that rom. Here is the stock rom you can flash without losing root.
[ROM] 08/03/11 | SPRINT LOVERS | 2.3.3 | 4.24.651.1 | Radio/Wimax/PRI All-In-One - xda-developers It hasn't gotten updated to 4.53 yet.

If you just want to unroot then here is the method after using unrevoked forever

Update: Here is the 4.53 rom [ROM][STOCK][Rooted] 4.53.651.1 - Odexed & De-Odexed - xda-developers
