I was rooted and was trying to install the rooted Gingerbread update.

My phone is now stuck at a Red Motorola logo. It wont do anything

I Have RSD Lite but it wont recognise the phone.

HELP PLEASE HELP

After pulling batter and holding power+camera+volume down get you into bootloader screen and RSD doesn't recognize? Or are you plugged in with red M?

Most times rsd can't recognize phone is because you don't have proper drivers. Check out the Moto help tool 4.9 to help with drivers.

For GB recovery its a little different. To get into stock recovery power on with power+home button, then when you are at the Exclamation point hold both volume buttons. From there select wipe data factory reset, then reboot device and see if that helps. If not then you may have to sbf.

I had this happen twice, to fix it I put the phone into the bootloader by holding the power and volume buttons then plugging in the usb cable, from there RSD lite recognized the phone and allowed me to flash the sbf.

make sure the phone isnt plugged in when putting it into the bootloader, and if you are using windows 7 run as admin. Also you may need to reinstall the drivers.

I have always entered bootloader by holding power + volume down + camera button. Didn't realize there was another way!

Unfortunately it sounds like he has soft bricked his phone and will need to sbf no matter what.

Try powering off and pressing home and power and then search when android image shows and do factory reset.. sounds like you didn't wipe data before installing... there has been issues without doing a wipe.

@kentusmc

I wanted to make sure he at least tried a wipe before sbf. Its saved me many times. If not, its looking like an sbf is in his future.

I had to sbf twice yesterday after trying load a modded keyboard and Latin.ime and no backups worked. I have poor luck with restoring from a backup once a device is fubar, which sucks. I don't think its possible to make a backup wrong!

If he has red M logo he is on Ginger and recovery is different. Its NOT search button. Hold both volume buttons once at android image.

Yes but I can't find drivers I have RSD lite 4.8 but cant find the drivers
Phone will not connect to RSD Lite no mater what I do.

What operating system are you using? If windows what windows specifically? XP, Vista or 7? I know I tried with XP and I couldn't get it to recognize my phone no matter how many times I reinstalled RSD and tried drivers and restarted everything. I eventually just had to get my father's laptop and I plugged it in it updated drivers automatically and I had it up and running again in 10 minutes.

OK win XP. Got the Phone SBF-ed (I think).

Phone boots and comes up But it wont let me register it..
Didn't ask for my name or phone number or gmail account information

Did you activate it? SBF'ing basically restores it to how it is when you open it out of the box. You have to activate it via the *611 or w/e it is. If you have the triangle where your reception should be then it isn't activated. And what do you mean ask for your name or phone number? When mine rebooted I had to activate it then add my gmail account then it asked if I wanted to add any other accounts.
