[HELP] Dropped my Samsung Galaxy S3 in water.

Fair enough - it's in an airtight container. I guess it being sealed is so that it's only the water from the phone that's absorbed and not water from the air.

You hit the nail on the head! And you should plan on leaving it in the rice for a couple of days - the longer the better.

did u get yours to work?? i dropped mine into the toilet yesterday??? i left it in a bag of rice overnight and tried it this morning bu it wudn turn on??

If you would of read some of the replies in this thread, you would of saw that you need to leave it sealed in a zip lock bag for 2 days. Trying to use it too early could of ruined it

EH I dropped it in the toiled yesterday. I dried it off and turned it on. Everything worked except for the speaker and microphone receiver thing. I got home from work (worked a 9 hr shift) put it in rice for two hours the speaker and microphone worked (not the speaker on the back... that one is most def gone) I sat it back in rice for the rest of the night and it stopped working. It does make a crackle sound when I hang up. Help...

lol people never learn. you got to leave it OFF with battery out in rice for 48 hrs. Not 2 hrs then let's try it out, that makes it worse. Read previous comments and you will see what people recommend

Hiya, I have read through all of this thread and just want to double check
I dropped my phone down the toilet today, unfortunately not after I flushed it :(
As my phone was already switched on when it went in, I dried it off and tried to see if it would work, the phone was literally in the toilet for about 3 seconds before I grabbed it out and everything seems to be working okay apart from the speaker which is making strange noises when I receive notifications..the mic works fine, the screen is fine, everything seems to be functioning okay, is it possible that ive escaped with no real damage other than the speaker needing to dry out? I have taken it apart and put it in rice now just to be sure, but I read a lot of posts saying not to turn it on after bein submerged..but like I say, mine was already on at the time so where would I stand with that?

The longer u can the bettr u will be... up to a week. Some say that submerging it in 80proof or greater will displace the water, thus making it easier to dry out because alcohol is thinner. The rice all by itself, for three days worked for me and a couple of friends.

I dropped my phone in water Thursday. It was still on after but would not let me swipe to unlock screen. Took battery out and put phone in rice. It's now Sunday and I can get it to turn on up until the Samsung screen right before it normally goes to the home screen but it just sits there. Any one have that happen? Did your phone ever work again?

dropped s3 in soapy water. Immediately dried it off. inside wasnt completely soaked when i did. turned it back on & the screen was dim. turned off again & let air dry & turned it back on & it was going from bright to dim. then it kept blinking from totally black & dim & then the screen jus stayed black. in rice now. do you think this will help? i hav a baby on the way in a month , i cannot be w/o a phone. nor afford a new one!

What would have helped was pulling the battery immediately and putting it in rice for several days; I think you're going to have to end up replacing the screen, which won't be very cost effective.

I dropped my S2 Skyrocket in Pepsi, immediately turned it off and put it in rice, then forgetting that it still had the battery and SIM card in it, I went and took those out about an hour later, it's still in the rice now. Will it be okay?

I dropped my S3 in water three days ago, had it in rice until this morning with all the parts separated. I just put it together and turned it on, it seems to be working perfectly except the screen is slightly discolored and dim. Is the screen dead? I'm honestly fine with it if it doesn't get any worse, but if more rice time will help I'll do that. Thanks for any advice.

Seems like it should if you didn't turn it back on. Leave it in the rice for at least 48 hours, preferably more.

Mine landed in the toilet about a week ago, as it fell out of my pocket. Snatched it up quick, but it was crackling before I could get the battery out. Let it dry for a couple days. It works perfectly except for the external speaker. I bought a replacement unit and put that in, but I still don't get sound. So, if that isn't where the problem is... what next?

Hi, Hove you fond the solution. I am in same boat. My phone was dipped in water and I dried it for 3-4 days and than washed it with alcohol. It's mic and external speaker was not working. I have replaced both. Now mic is working but speaker makes some crackling noise. I can hear the ringtome and music but there is some disturbance with it. Help!

how long did it take for it to turn off and all that, its only ive just dropped my Samsung galaxy ace 3 in the bath and it works fine and feels dry and everything works, but im really scared now?
