I have a rooted evo. Boot screen says following....

SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.93.0000

I used unrevoked(not forever) to root. I have downloaded Titanium Backup Pro also. I want to flash a custom ROM. I tried to flash a custom rom on my last evo(root access confirmed) using ROM Manager. However I didn't do something right and my last device was stuck in bootloader. I have read on here for a week trying to get my steps right this time. From what I have gathered I need to do a Nandroid backup before I do anything further. I need to know how I can check if I have a nandroid backup. I have plugged my phone into my computer to backup sd card and nandroid however I can't seem to view my sd card. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

with phone off, hold volume down, and power to get into bootloader, go to recovery, and depending on the recovery you should have a backup/restore option or an option called nand/nandroid backup

i'm guessing you installed busy box as well?

Did you wipe the data, cache partition, and dalvik before trying to flash?

I have not flashed anything. I downloaded titanium backup pro V:3.6.2
Root access=>OK(BusyBox 1.16.0 from app)
HyperShell=>yes
Fast/auto app install=>yes(using hypershell)
SQLite=>yes
Dropbox=>no

Data directory:/data
External Storage:/mnt/sdcard(ok)
Backup Directory:/mnt/sdcard/titanium backup

Again I have not tried to flash a new Rom. I realize where I screwed up last time and I am trying to avoid it. Thank You

I was trying to install netarchy on my previous device when I messed up. I didnt do a nandroid backup and my recovery image was wrong. I used ROM Manager the first time thats why I used Titanium this time.

Well... you might want to use the Clockwork recovery because from there you can clear the cache partition and dalvik cache, then flash your kernel

For a ROM you'll have to also wipe data as i mentioned. Do you remember wiping that stuff at all or did you just try to flash it?

Titanium will allow you to back up your system data, apps and user data. But when you do a nandroid backup it takes a "snap shot" of the whole system, so when you flash it everything is restored.

Titanium back up is good when you flash a new ROM and kernel and you want to install all your apps and user+system data.

I would also recommend App Brain

Yes I wiped all those the first time. I performed a nand backup since your last post. While my phone was performing the nand backup today I noticed my recovery image was clockwork. I rooted with unrevoked 3.21. The only thing my nand backup said had a problem was external storage.I am just stressed out!

Clockwork as your recovery image should be just fine. I use clockwork. I haven't used Amon_RA. After speaking with multiple users, neither is better than the other. Although, toast over at XDA mentioned that Clockwork was having some issues with wiping data. I'm sure it's cleared up. As long as you have achieved full root with unrevoked you're good. Most developers aren't crazy about it because the exploit isn't public., (you can't see whats going on).

I'm trying to understand what you mean by
The only thing my nand backup said had a problem was external storage.

The only external storage you have is the sd card. do you have the standard 8GB? It could had given you a warning because you're running low on storage space.

Your nandroid backups will be stored on your SD card under clockwork>backups. Your SD card may be full, thats why your having problems. Or did it say no ext-sd, skipping? Because thats normal.

To flash a rom, download it and put it on the root of your SD card. it doesnt matter how you put it on there, just dont tamper with the .zip or anything simply copy and paste.

Now turn your phone off, hold vol down+power to boot into the bootloader. While in the boot loader use the volume buttons to scroll down to recovery and hit power to select. It will dump you into clockwork recovery, from here wipe data and cache. After you're wiped go to install zip from sd > choose zip > and find the rom you put on the sd, scroll down and select it and confirm. It will then install your ROM. Reboot and youre all set.

Yes that is exactly what it said. I did my nandroid backup again and everything was successful. I have put som ROM and kernel zip files on my sd card. I am gonna hit TruSlide up if I have any problems. If there is anything I can help you with here let me know. I had no idea what I was doing when I decided to root. Now I have learned a little bit. I have learnt enough to stop before I go to far.

I'll help you access your nandroid backups and save them to a spot on your computer. that way you'll be able to free up some space on your card.
