Help I may be stuck/bricked :(

Well as arguments go I do agree that people should do their homework before they decide to do a root. However as a lot of people do they dont read into it in which people wind up causing their phone to brick. From what I gathered forums such as this one are designed to help people out who are fresh to anything android. In my experience it does not help to ride people about not doing any research on rooting. If you have info to help people out share it if you dont

It's fine all. I just had to manually reinstall the USB drivers or some driver. USB was detected and everything's good now. Thanks for the help! And yeah I'll bother people more for a step by step after I read up more on this.

Dear Broty, to go into recovery mode, you must first remove the battery from your device. Then put the battery back in. After that, hold the back button and volume down buttons at the same time. While doing this press and hold the power button so you're holding all three buttons at the same time. The LG logo will appear, but keep holding the three buttons. The LG logo will (after about two seconds) disappear and the screen will be black but lit up. Now you can let go. After about three seconds the recovery menu will appear.

Now if you can't start it from here, remove the SD card and put it into the adapter that came with the phone and download this file https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B094hoaCX7goNzc4NTIwM2EtOTVhYS00MzNjLWIzMzQtZDg4NDkxZDM1NzMx&sort=name&layout=list&num=50
Put this on the SD card and put the SD card back into the phone. Reapeat the steps in the first paragraph then use the volume rockers to navigate to the flash zip option. Press Home. Then select the file that I told you to download and press home. It will as if you want to continue, press home. It will install your factory settings. Then press back until you're at the main menu, the select reboot. Press home. YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE! Unfortunately, there is no other way to unbrick without losing everything. Hope this helps! :)

Hi all. Apparently I'm new to this rooting and may have bricked my Optimus V. At first I was having problems being stuck in RomTools recovery mode, now I'm stuck on the LG logo screen that I get when I first turn on the phone. I think I accidentally rooted a bad one with "$" instead of "#" the second time around.

I've tried to access recovery doing home+volume down+power, but what happens is I get LG for a second, blank, then a backlit blank screen. I tried hitting buttons as I remember one of the buttons were turning the screen off and on, but that didn't work.

I tried Emergency Mode and I can access that mode, but here's the problem. When I connect to USB I keep getting an icon on the taskbar saying "This device can perform faster. This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi speed USB 2.0 port." It says this on both my computers. I also can't access my SD card as I usually would with USB mode.

Last, I tried the KDZ thing. I guess it didn't work cause it couldn't detect my phone properly just like in Emergency Mode.

Launching SW update
Unpacking KDZ
KDZ file extraced
Extract file error
===FINISHED===

It's likely that I'm SOL, but if any way I can get some better assistance than doing it myself I would be glad. Sorry for the wall of text as well and I would be happy to explain the steps I remember I took to end up where I am :'(

How did you get it into Emergency Mode?

EDIT: Nevermind, got it into emergency mode. Had to reboot computer to get the drivers to be updated.
What's strange is that when I tried using the LG Mobile Updater Program while in emergency mode, it would let me choose to update it, but it wouldn't read the phone so it would always get stuck at 30%.
Anyone know what else I can do?

Recovery is not working because it appears the person who's phone this is flashed a non Optimus V recovery via ROM Manager and then did a factory reset. When I try to boot into recovery it just turns to a black screen but it's def on.
Might not be able to fix it at all I guess. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you haven't already, download the Android SDK and Java.

Once installed, open a command prompt and cd into the Android/Platform-Tools directory that was created when you installed the SDK.

Now in the command prompt, type: adb shell

It should say daemon not running, starting, then you should get a dollar sign ($) prompt

If this works, and you have the dollar sign prompt, we can help you pretty easily. From here it's just a matter running SuperOneClick to get a temp root, then navigating to your sdcard, and typing in the commands to flash a new recovery.
