Nothing built in but there are several apps in the Market.

There's an app in the market called AudioManager. It includes a widget. Check it out.

I'm a former BB owner too and this is way above and beyond. If you want something similar to the BB style try Quick Settings.

To go from Normal to Silent, you can hold down the "down" volume rocker all the way until it vibrates and goes into Silent mode. Repeat with "up" to return to Normal from Silent.

To go from Normal to Silent, you can hold down the "down" volume rocker all the way until it vibrates and goes into Silent mode. Repeat with "up" to return to Normal from Silent.

You can also press and hold the power button on top until the phone vibrates. A screen will pop up with options, including "silent mode" and "vibrate only".
