Help installing jellybean

I've been following along with you guys. I installed the drivers, unlocked, rooted, then I did some clockwork recovery thing and I chose jellbean zip and started it. I see the kickass new animation logo but it's been at it for like 10 minutes. No reboots, the animation is just constantly going on. Any ideas?

Did you wipe everything? I have a list of instructions in the guide. Did you follow each of those?

Need more details :)

I did a full wipe of the phone when I unlocked it. But from what I'm reading it sounds like I didn't wipe the cache. Is there any hope?

Yes. Pull the battery out of your device. Let it sit for a minute. Put it back in.

Hold down volume up, volume down, and power button at the same time. That'll get you to the bootloader.

Then, use the volume toggle to select "recovery."

Hit power to actually select it.

In there, wipe data (factory reset), cache, dalvik cache, and system.

Then flash Jelly Bean.

I wiped data (factory reset), cache, dalvik cache, but NOT system.
I didn't see it there. I selected the zip again and started the process again. I'll see.

EDIT:
It worked!

Ok here are some questions I have guys.

1. Where do I place the zip files I downloaded, on the SD card. The files are from Vicious (Team Liquid) jelly bean rom.

2. How do I reboot into Recovery? Is that what Rom Manager is for?

3. How do I wip cache and dalvik cache?

4. How do I create a backup/nandroid?

5. How do I wipe the phone completely--system, data, cache, dalvik?

6. Which zip gets installed first Vicious-JellyBean-V2-signed or Vicious-Stock-JB-Kernel?

Sorry guys, I'm a super noob :P

1.) I put them in the root directory, not in any folder.
2.) Yes, ROM manager reboots your phone into recovery mode but you can do so manually:
"Hold down volume up, volume down, and power button at the same time. That'll get you to the bootloader.
Then, use the volume toggle to select "recovery."
Hit power to actually select it."
3) when in recovery mode, there an option to wipe cache. To get to Dalvik cache, go to the advanced menu, its the last option in the recovery mode screen.
4) You can create a back up in recovery mode, it's one of the options
5) You are doing it in steps, if you did the steps above, you cleared the cache and dalvik. There's an option to wipe phone/factory reset. You want to use that as well.
6) I only used the Vicious V2 zip.

Hope that helps man! You are really close!

I'll try to help. Here's how I did it. I used the link over at xda dev. Once downloaded I used ROM manager to "install ROM from SD card". It will then ask to backup current ROM, wipe cache and data, wipe dalvik. Check all three. It will reboot and do its magic. Then you'll be in cwm. Choose install zip from SD card. This is where you need to know where the file is. If you just download it on your phone it'll be in downloads file(Helps to know the name of the file too.). Once you find the file, press power to select the file. Then scroll down to "Yes. Cannot be undone", press power again. The volume buttons move you up and down, and power selects. Once the JB zip installs it'll reboot. To install the kernel simply power off the phone. Hold volume up and down at the same time while pressing the power key. You'll boot to the boot loader. You volume down to get to recovery. Press power to select. Now its the same as flashing JB. Find the file. Select it, select yes to "Yes. This cannot be undone" and let the phone do its thing.
Edit: Install JB first.

Yes, that helped a lot, thanks! Also, when you say root directory, do you mean place where all of your Messaging, Downloads, Music, and Pictures are located on your phone? Is that the root directory?

Root directory means don't put it in any folders. Leave it by itself on the card.

NP. The more you do it the easier and less nerve racking it gets. :)

Yes. The easiest is to have a backup of stock in your SD card. But worst case you'll need to download it on your computer and move to your nexus. As long as you have a backup of a working ROM you should be good.

Yeah, when your phone is connected to your PC, and you click on it to open it up you see folders named Alarms, Android, DCIM, Download etc.

Just copy the zip file in that area, but not in a folder.
