ok ok i sideloaded a cracked app from a free source to test the battery drain so please no "told ya so" posts
now my screen will only stay on from between a split second to 2seconds.
i THINK i managed to uninstall the app but problem persists.
whats my next option before *cringe* factory reset?
(unrootod s3, lockscreen works but only opens home for a flash)
thanks in advance ;)

i can understand a lack of sympathy but was testing the apps battery usage for a friend as praystore refund policy doesnt really allow for that and if i liked it, i WOULD have bought it!

Quite a pickle you're in, friend! Probably a dumb question, but did you try rebooting your phone?

Sent from my HTC One X

You could try a soft reset first. Just hold the power button in until the phone reboots. Good luck!

soft reset as you described it kept the screen on for much longer mate :) ....

wheres system settings? do u mean "securiyy and lock settings" mate? @Ricky

yeah got device admin mate, its both my security apps (avast and android lost). just ran AVG and it says im protected?

Does not seem like anything there is abnormal. I would suggest to err on the safe side and do a factory reset at this point. I know that is not what you wanted to hear, but the fact that your text is working is a major concern as "pirated apps" are known for utilizing this to extract revenue. I would do it as soon as possible.
That is the only way you will be sure that your phone is rid of any Trojan/Malware.

think ur right mate. im actualy using the phone now. even Zoner found no viruses. at least i should be able to back up my launcher and go sms settings 1st.
thanks mate :)

ps my txts are part of a pre-pay package which has no credit in it so that doesnt worry me but dont wanna soft reset the phone every time i use it lol. ill do a kies back up n then bite the bullet... big lesson learned lol its the 1st time ive been bitten by pirated app :)

On my tbolt mybackup pro defaults to the external sd. They are in the rerware folder.

I believe the reward was a free bj

On my Samsung galaxy s3 running android 4.0

Because unlike ios, i keep my apps in app drawers, and not in infinite cluttered homescreens

lmao it may be in writing but we didnt shake on it mate :)
