Ok, so here is the story..

I got a mytouch 3g from a friend with a broken display. (she got it from the person who broke the screen). I replace the screen but cant get past the lock screen since I dont know the pattern. Can i reset the software without knowing the pattern?? BTW she doesn't personally phone the person who broke it so getting the pattern is not an answer. thanks in advance!

Hold and press the home button and the end call button(make sure your phone is off first) Then you will. Pass a screen with a triangle after that will give you the options to master reset, factory reset and some others if you want to feel like having a new phone master reset is for you factory reset doesn't clean everything
P.s if you have trouble with the button holds hold the home button and the end call button untill you see the logo.

Its something you'd download from the Market... and I don't think it works with the architecture of the processor in the 3G Slide... but I could be wrong (doubt it though).
