HELP! My Galaxy S3 boots up but only have black screen

I rooted and flashed CM 10.1 on my S3 4.1.2. I was looking and it said that the process failed for gapps, keyboard failed, and set up failed. When I pull the battery and try to restart in download mode or CWM it flashes like it will go into recovery but goes to a black screen and then stays black and does nothing. Please help!?

If you can't get into Download mode (Volume Down + Home + Power) then you're SOL. I've seen some guy that advertises JTAG service - that's about the only way out that I can think of. You could try purchasing a JIG on Amazon - they're only a couple of bucks and you've got nothing to lose at this point.

The main issue is that when I do a battery pull and put the battery back in, the phone automatically turns on. I can try to have the 3 button combo held down when I put the battery in , but the recovery screen only flashes and then doesn't proceed.

Sorry to jump in here but I bricked my VZW Note 2 trying to return it to stock. I have the black screen of death. I get the Samsung logo but nothing after that. My back and menu buttons light up but do nothing. I can get into download mode but my phone is still showing clockwork mod info and I can't send it back to Samsung for repairs because of this. I was running CM 10.1 prior to trying to return to stock. I bought the phone rooted and stupidly did not do a backup as I assumed the phone was backed up when I bought it. Any help fixing my phone will be greatly appreciated!!!

What was the method you were using to return it to stock?

Odin and the Stock image found here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...note2-return-100-stock-updated-5-12-13-a.html It went through the entire process perfectly but now I have nothing. :/ If I can remove all traces of CM 10.1 I can return it to Samsung but a factory reset still shows Clockwork Mod in the reboot/recovery menu. (Sorry, I thought my first response didn't post.)

Try Samsung updates .com. Look for your exact model number, download the file, extract, and flash via Odin.

Or just use the Kies software on your PC to reload the stock firmware. That way you don't have to try to figure out which image is the correct image to load via Odin. I've tested that capability in Kies several times and it's always worked.

If you an get into download mode, you should still be able to flash the stock ROM using Odin or Kies. As this is the Galaxy S3 forum, and not the Note forum, I have no idea what ROM you should be trying to install, though.

Hello form Greece and thanx in advance for any help
I bought my samsung galaxy i8260 core one month ago and 2 days ago I rooted it and today I installed pimp my rom.

I tweaked only hte following:
1. Pixel density to 275 (worked fine)
2. i ticked the boxew that make browsing faster
3. Hardware acceleration and gpu rendering (reboot needed)
4. tried to install (before reboot) bravia engine but it stuck.

After 5 minutes of waiting I have long pressed the lock button to turn the device off. It went off. Now it wont turn on. It dispalys the welcome screen (samsung galaxy blah blah) and then black (lit however stating that the screen gets power) screen.

I tied to connect it to the pc but nothing happened except charging.

Please help, I do not have another phone and i urgently need it

Thanx

ps: I cannot enter recovery or download. Doing hard reset ends to restart (samsung log etc)

It's very strange that it would boot to a splash screen but that it won't enter Download mode. Are you sure that you're using the correct sequence? With the phone COMPLETELY off (as in, a battery pull) press and hold the Volume Down and Home and Power buttons simultaneously, and release them all when you see the splash screen.

Frankly, if the phone won't enter Download mode you're out of luck. You'd have to look for someone that offers JTAG services.

And for Recovery mode, make sure the phone is completely off, then press and hold volume UP, home and power until you see the Samsung logo, then immediately release all three buttons. If you release even one button a little bit too soon, or a little bit too late, it won't enter recovery.

Good luck.

thank you both for the answers
i managed to do factory reset but it still doesn t boot
I am on download mode (i ve installed odin) and i am searching for a stock rom (sammobile.com faces webste problems and I cannot download from there)

You should try using the Kies software on your PC to reload the stock firmware. It'll take care of downloading the correct firmware for your model/carrier. If for some reason your carrier isn't supported, let us know who your carrier is and/or what region you're in and we'll see if we can find the stock firmware that you can use with Odin.

If it was the connection between the screen and the motherboard, which I am pretty sure is what is wrong with mine, how could I go about fixing that problem?

I have the black screen
I've tried to take out battery for few minutes, Power the phone back on, it makes all the right sounds but unable to see anything.
I can answer calls only

If the connection between the screen and motherboard came loose is that something that can be fixed? how?

I have this exact same problem. Phone was less then 3 months old, never been dropped or banged or wet. Was using camera app and screen went black never to turn back on. I can hear it turn on, still hear notifications sounds when on and still see the blue blinking light for those notifications. Service provider wouldn't help, Samsung wants me to pay for a fix, which I refuse. A $700+ phone should be covered when it has issues in that short of time. I have an otter box on it with screen protector and not a mark on it phone still looks brand new. I hate to say this because I have always been a Samsung fan and full supporter in the I-Phone vs Samsung war but looks like I will be ditching Samsung for another brand, especially after reading how many others have this same problem!
