Help! My phone won't stay on unless it's plugged in!

When I unplug my phone it just turns off. I've tried a new battery and it didn't work. Would really appreciate some input. I'm on a small island with limited resources.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you charge up the new battery fully before trying it? Let it charge on a wall outlet for at least 4-6 hours undisturbed before trying to use the phone.
