rooting is pretty foolproof, its flashing firmware onto your ?500 gadget thats taking a bit of a risk ;)

global s3, UK. Ask me anything and ill reply even if its just an intelligent (or stupid) guess ;)

No doubt man. When I did it back in the day it was hard as hell.

Congrats! Did they happen to tell you what they did to revive your phone?

Bigger question: will you root/flash it again? :)

i bricked my phone the same exact way :( Help please? Is there a fix for this already?

Google mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com

Looks like they have to JTAG repair the device if you truly bricked it and cannot get into Recovery mode.

Looks like it worked for the OP - so should work for you.

JTAG Unbrick Service - Bricked my Phone

That's the service I used for my fully bricked sprint s3.
He emailed every step of the way and it only took a couple days. Plus it's only 45 bucks.

I did by myself get Odin to read the phone when it was bricked. You take out the battery and connect it and use drivermax to get the drivers because they are odd drivers I couldn't find anywhere. After the I ran Odin and it said download mode. But I couldn't get it to restart. The led light will turn on only with no battery and plugged in the computer. The phone will still be blank and not turn on, but That could be a way to get around a jtag but I never figured it out myself. Just a thought but the guy is legit other wise.

Yes spagman is legit. I have been sending people to him since the early days of the gs3. If you have a bricked gs3, this is the guy I send everyone to. If I ever brick my phone, he's who I would go to.

There seem to be versions of the Abyss kernel for many different devices. Can you post a link to the version you flashed?

But, it probably doesn't matter. Since you're in the Sprint sub-forum, I assume you have a Sprint S3? If so, I'm really sorry to tell you that you've bricked your phone. The Omega ROM, from everything I can see, is for the international version of the S3 (i9300), not the Sprint version. I REALLY wish ROM developers would more clearly describe their products. Different versions of this phone have different cpus and different radios, and therefore different firmware to map to those features. The international ROM you flashed is looking for hardware that doesn't exist in your phone.

I REALLY wish ROM developers would more clearly describe their products, but I also wish people who decide to flash ROMs would do more research first.

Anyway, do a Google search for JTAG and you should be able to find people who can reflash the stock software, for a fee. Several people on this forum have reported good results from this service: JTAG Unbrick Service - Bricked my Phone

Good luck.

Look folks, he said his SG3 is DEAD; that means NO download mode, NO recovery mode, NO ANYTHING!! I too have done the same thing to not only my SG3, but my SG2 as well. Tried the jig ~ nope. The ONLY OPTION one has at this point is to send their phone for JTAG repair. The fellows over at Mobiletechvideos.com are who brought both my phones back from the dead. And I do not mean just once; no, I have HARD BRICKED both my SG2 and SG3 AT LEAST twice each. There are other JTAG recovery sites if Mobiletechvideos.com for one reason or another is not to liking, however JTAG is what you will need if you ever want to see life again from your dead phone.

Can you get into your custom recovery? (Hold volume up + Home + Power Button) When you see "Recovery Mode" in small dark blue lettering at the top, let go. Once in customer recovery you can restore your nanoid backup. If your phone is totally non-responsive, try pulling the battery and try to get into recovery again. Good luck :)

I feel so bad and depressed, I'm a complete newbie, I flashed the wrong rom using Odin3 v3.07 on my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 :'(
I can get to Download Mode by pressing the 3 buttons but I don't how and where to find the correct rom for my s3

I can see this on the top left corner of the download screen:
ODIN MODE
Product name : SGH-t999
Custom Binary Download : yes (5 counts)
Current Binary: custom
System status: custom
Qualcomm secureboot: enable

I find this written under the battery
Model :GT-I9300
FCC ID: A3LGTI9300A
SSN: ~I9300GSMH

on the back cover there T-Mobile written

I flashed this I9300XXALE8_I9300OXAALE8_I9300XXLE8_HOME.tar.md5 and it showed fail in the end.
