I am NOT using a task killer or anything!

My phone was fine the past month. Today battery has been so bad (more than 10% per hour) while doing little to nothing. I finally check spare parts and time without sleeping was 99%!!!! I check running programs and there is nothing running. Toggle airplane, nothing. I have DRM prevented from starting on boot. Any wisdom??

Oh, and wifi sleep is set to NEVER.

Edit 1: Okay, just discovered by holding home button and pressing task manager that my camera was running. However, I do not remember launching camera this morning. IF it HAS been running all day though in the background, would that prevent phone from sleeping? This is alarming!!

I mean, perhaps the camera button was just pressed by accident. This means we have to be sure that we back out of camera completely?!?!? I thought the device was supposed to manage itself. And camera is native!! Boy, this puts a big crack in the argument against an Android provided task manager!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edit 2: WOW!! This is REALLY BAD! It's NOT the camera, I TESTED!!

My phone needs a nap and I can't give it what it needs to rest. I do not want to do something as drastic as pulling the bat or restarting the phone. MY PHONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO REST WITHOUT HAVING TO BE KILLED.

Please!! Someone help me! I'm only at 28 percent battery after 6 hours and I want this phone to sleep on THIS boot!!!

:'(:'(

Your first step when something like this occurs is to power the phone off and power it back on.

I've had a few cases where the phone is very warm even after being off plug, and screen off, for a while. Nothing appears to be running but the battery burns pretty fast, so I usually power cycle the phone and all is well (at least for a couple of days, anyway).

With the phone on/screen on, hold down the power button, power the phone off, wait until all the lights go out, and then power it back on. You should be good to go after that.

ON the off chance you're not, you might take your phone to Sprint and see if you can get a battery replacement.

I want to know WHY this happened. It never has happened before and there has to be a reason. Just restarting phone does not solve the issue. I am screwed today because it happened. Once the batt is drained its too late and I do NOT want to have to be checking spare parts every minute from now on to check time spent sleeping.

You can do better than "restart your phone"

Wow, what a wild ride today has been.

I already stated I did not want to restart phone. Was his way of giving me patronizing instructions as to how to restart a phone very nice?

Anyway, I restarted my phone and problem is solved. But I still want to know WHY. I will never forget the day my phone decided not to sleep. This was a real scare. And left me without a full charge all day!

Thanks for all your help!!

in the OP you said you're not using task killer or anything but then you also said you have something to prevent DRM from starting on boot. this tells me you have something going on regarding play with system and app settings. it could be that you have some type of conflict configuration with whatever third party apps you are using to manage your device.

I'm very glad ericdives's suggestion worked for you. Now I can close this thread since it has served its purpose.
