How can you do what - get the micro-USB port replaced (http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-usb-port-repair/) or find the update.zip? For the latter, you'd probably have to ask around XDA (I have a copy of it for the Verizon phone but that won't do you any good - it's carrier-specific).

You should long-press the Power button until the phone turns off or just pull the battery. Once the phone has cooled off connect the charger and let it charge fully before attempting to turn it on again.

If it doesn't boot normally you'll have to see if it'll boot into Download mode and if that works you'll have to reload the firmware using the Kies software or Odin.

I have tried getting the phone into recovery or download mode. I am pressing the volume up or down the power button and the home screen at simultaneously. once the Samsung screen initially pops up i let go. Then the phone act like it is going to turn on but just gets stuck at the flashing Samsung logo.I have also tried holding it longer to see if it made a difference. I after the initial Samsung screen the phone stays blank and just vibrates...don't know what to do

I have tried getting the phone into recovery or download mode. I am pressing the volume up or down the power button and the home screen at simultaneously.

It would be very unusual for the phone not to boot into Download mode (as long as the correct key combination is being used):
- start with the phone completely off
- press-and-hold the Volume Down + Home + Power simultaneously
- keep holding all three buttons until you see the green screen warning you about downloading firmware

Are you sure all of your buttons are functional? That's very strange.
If you take the battery out and reinsert it, does the phone turn itself on?

You could invest in a JIG (it's a little micro-USB plug), which forces the phone into Download mode; they're a few dollars online.

recently my tech savvy freind upgraded my phone software to android version 4.4.4(kitkat)
since then i am facing this peuliar problem.... when my phone is kept on idle mode, and i try to get the display on by pressing the power button, the same dosen't turns up..... there is no timimg pattern for this phenomenon... anytime,...anywhere this happens... sometimes after call, when i look at the phone the light does not comes.....

the only solution i have is to kill the session by pressing the power button for 10 seconds and restart the phone.

Is this the problem of the latest version of kitkat....?

Can it be resolved without moving back to older version.

Please help me out

I have the same problem with my galaxy s2 rch-9760 but it stops at the carrier logo and then automatically turns off. I have tried everything, factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe delvac :'''mad: . If anyone can help me, please do so.

Thank you so much for sharing on how to perform an upgrade on Samsung S3. First of all I had no idea why the phone was stuck on Samsung logo. Tried everything I knew how to do but no luck. Even cleared memory (and lost everything in the process) but no luck. Finally took it to repair store and they said I probably need a software re installation, which they charge $65 . Being the money saver that I am, I opted to seek help from Google on how to do the software reinstall and I am happy to say your articles helped me to recover my phone without spending a dime.
